Basic Anchor Text Question

In commenting on a blog post and the boxes call for "name", "email", "url", and "comment", how do you get anchor text in there? I'm researching some competitor links with SEO spyglass and for each link analyzed it shows "anchor text" for these blogs, but where do I put the anchor text?

Thanks

  • The anchor text is almost always what you put in the name field...
  • Yes, "Name" field is your anchor text, "URL" or "Website" field is where this will link too.

    • So, I'm putting my actual name in the "name" field and that's what is showing for my anchor text?!? Link can't be worth much, can it? But, to be able to put something besides an actual name, I guess you would have to find blogs with auto-approved comments, right?

      Thanks for the info.
  • Can anyone explain what is anchor text exactly and where to put anchor text in site? And how many?
  • The best thing for blog comments is put your anchor text name in the "name" box.
You will find link for your name also. like this you will catch links for your anchor text from blog comments.
  • An anchor text is the "keyword text" you use to rank your website on. For example if you want your website to rank for the keyword "blue widget" you use the "blue widget" as your anchor text when doing blog comments.
  • The anchor text is your name you insert and some sites also allow ahref anchor texts to be inserted for more link juice.
  • in such cases, just leave your real name and leave your website url as a backlink. if you want your comment to be approved by the admin, do this.

    • There are plenty of admins that will approve comments with variations of your name + anchor text. (Bob From Gardening Supplies, for example.)

But yeah, you'll have the highest chance of approval if you just use your name. (Or comment on a blog with plugins that encourage anchor text.)
