Youtube Vids 1st Page after 1 day &2 Hours!

Hello Fellow Warriors.

I started to have some success uploading youtube video's with decent traffic (2000 a month global) and in some cases they would hit page one after only two hours which I thought was awesome, google seems to like youtube and ranks video's much faster.

The process I use was this...

1. Keywords research with market samurai - Find keywords with virtually no competion, i.e sites on the first page had zero backlinks or very few.
2. Create a video with animoto
3. upload to youtube
4. optimize video decription with mu keyword, in title and 3 to 4 times in the description.
5. Then create backlinks using free services and my seo link robot and Digi Traffic accelorator.

So I thought at last I had "cracked it" ! NO

Because today three of my video's that were on page one have gone, even if you put the youtube url in google nowt, seems they have been de-indexed.

Anyody has this experience ? is this gooogle dance and they may come back or have they gone for ever ?

Shame really because I really thought I had found a way that was wworking from me, I even started to get amazon commisions from the video's

Please let me know what you think, iinitially i thought i had created to many backlinks to quickly but as we all know if that was possible we could do this for competitors !

I experienced the same thing with a niche blog I started about two weeks ago. I bought a bunch of backlinks to it and it shot up to the #1 position on page 2 of Google for the keyword I was targeted. Yesterday I checked again and it's now on page 9... Stinks...

It does indeed stink! But in my case its worse because the vids have been deindexed!!!... Cant find them when I put the url in google. Not all of the vids have gone but looks like they may !!

Shame cuz this was working really well for me....and I am reluctant to do anymore until i know whats happend.....

    This is normal.

A lot of content goes straight to page one for a while until Google gets more data on where it belongs, and if what you're doing is a blatent sales video then often the Youtube users will flag it as such and it'll get slapped.

Videos work great but not when done in a gratuitously promotional way - the same as with everything else.

      Thanks Andy..
i thought this maybe the case as other video's are ranking on page one for my keywords. The video's I do usually do get to page 1 and stay there as there is very llittle competition. Ur right i may have to cut out the "sales" stuff.

Just had the same deindexing happen to 2 videos I did for a client last week. They were #1, now gone completely in Google. They are still in YouTube, will have to see what happens over time. I have other page one videos I did last month, still on page 1.

Youtube video needs backlinks? Now I've learnt something!

Regarding to de-indexing, I have experienced this...not with an IM video, but a music video clip. It got 0 view and I never found it even when I typed the URL. So I simply deleted it from the dashboard.

I do this as well yet my videos arn't affected... Yet!

It does sound like some kind of algorithm change.

      Hi Livethedream,

I agree that if overly promotional, or make money online niche etc, they were most probably removed for that reason. Since google owns youtube, most of the same rules apply.

In future, try to also embed them on a content-rich blog page (if you haven't already) and see if that helps them to 'stick'

      Max.

FYI, just some clarifying info. The 2 subject videos were for a client in a service industry, nothing related to making money. Videos were about 1 minute, had a intro and ending slide with the clients contact info and a couple of his services listed. The middle of the videos were a couple of photos and a live clip of the client in action.

Video 1 - only promo was 50 social bookmarks
    Video 2 - zero promo

They were only submitted to YouTube, no other video syndication sites.
Initially both ranked #1 to #3 for various keywords based on my optimization (and low competition). They were put up on Dec 23 and 24, then noticed on the 26th they were deindexed.

I only used the keywords one time in the Title and in the Description, plus straight content from the client's services page (a short one). Included less than 10 appropriate keywords in Tags. No keyword stuffing.

The method you describe will get you on the front page in less than a minute, but the 'sticky' time is usually about an hour. Then I don't know where the videos go. I've had a few that are still there after 4 months, and others disappear in days or less.

Google loves videos if they are YouTube

But not so much if they are affiliate promotions

Perhaps they would do better in a VPN package or some other way to add content to the link. Please post again when you have the solution.

    Great topic

did you link straight to an offer in the description? How about creating a test-video where you don't have a link in the descriptioni), wait for them to rank, and then (if they're still up), add the link a few days later.

Also, how much authority does the youtube account you're using have?
Is it full of short promotional videos that have no (or close to no) views, no comments and just a bunch of links to affiliate offers?
Or do you have videos in your account with lots of views, comments, other youtube users as friends etc?

Youtube is social media after all, so when Google sees it's an account that is 'social' in nature, that may (should!) make a difference.

Update on videos - today they are back at the top of Google SERPs, but no thumbnail and videos are not showing in the Google Video section. Looks like the ranking is just coming from the optimized title and description in YouTube vs ranking as a video (low comp. long-tail kw's). However, for the client the jobs pay well and the kw's are very targetted and geo-specific.

That's what has happened to my videos too over the last few weeks. The videos are still ranked on Google Everything Search (no thumbnail) but not on Google video. But they still appear with the thumbnail on the Youtube search.

Guess we'll have to see how things play out with Google. One of my other videos has been on page 1 for the SERP for over a year. A couple of others I put up last month are still on page 1 of SERP with thumbnails and in Google video section.

Update - It's been a couple of days since I checked the 2 video rankings. Since my initial post about the 2 videos, I've not done any promotion just thought I would give it some time and see what happened.

Video #1 - On the Google page 1 ranking, the thumbnail is back and it is ranked in the Google video section again. This video initially had 50 social bookmarks, nothing since.

Video #2 - Still ranked on page 1 of Google, but the thumbnail is not back and has not returned in the Google video section yet. This video has never had any promotion other than pinging.

Just wanted to update. A couple of days after my last post, all was well with top Google main page rankings, thumbnails showing, etc.

This should help my MW3 Commentarys Ive been doing! Thank you for the advice and deindexed has to stink but if it has an affiliate link on it then most of the time it will get knocked down from youtube and all... that is why you have to put a link to your website than from there convert the traffic into sales by using the affiliate link there... because if its self hosted theres no rules to worry about when youtube is hosting a video you have terms to agree to ..

Were your videos your own original content/video? or music videos or something else?
Did you have any likes on these videos? or just views? If you have backlinks and decent views 1000+ can be replaced by others/same type of videos out performing yours.

I have actually read products on how to get to the number one spot on google in a day or less, and many times it's all about backlinking youtube videos. I guess if you can get them to stick on the first page then it would be well worth it. I myself have never really dabbled in Youtube marketing though.

I have been doing studies lately to see how YouTube ranks its videos. YouTube videos seem to be sorted by PageRank by default when you search for something. If you use a tool such as scrapebox Backlink Checker, you'll see that every video has ~ 3,342,525 Backlinks.

Youtube.com is not like other websites... It has a PageRank of 9 and is the top web 2.0 site in the world AND owned by Google. Therefore, it stands to reason that youtube/google has some type of algorithm set up to assign PageRank to videos based on variables such as; age, views, likes, dislikes, comments, etc. and not backlinks.

I think this or other same strategies are working for ranking Youtube videos and it also doesn't need a complicated strategy because Youtube has millions of strong backlinks and its clear that most videos of it are ranking on first or second pages of Google and they have a lot of traffic.

Automated backlinks are not good for SEO. Some times they are treated as black hat techniques. And penalize by Google. Work hard and honestly for getting long term success.
