High Pagerank But No Backlink - Is That Possible?

I came across these homepages with REAL high PR but WITHOUT any backlink.

Is that possible? And under what situation can this be possible?

    Likely not, chances are that the domain was once redirected to another domain.
    Google will associate that PageRank with the domain that its redirecting too. That
    is until the domain isn't redirected any longer and Google recrawls it. Once Google
    recrawls it the domains PageRank will be adjusted and shown. In this case it'd be a
    PR N/A

      Yep, absolutely right. Be careful here. It is a common tactic but there are some IMers that try to sell people "high pr" domain at a premium. I got cheated when I first started out 5 years ago. I bought domain of pr5 at a premium. I build lots of money pages on it. After 2 month, the pr went dead, got de-index by Google. That was a good lesson for me. Screw that IMer. He is still around.
