Hi everyone,

Long time lurker, but now I need some help! I'm new to IM and am following the Fastattack SEO method on building sites, here is my problems so far, perhaps someone could help:

1. The site has only been live a week today, my exact match domain went from 75th to 49th and is now at 23, which is exciting! The problem is I have several other keywords i want to rank on which the URL is www mysite com/MY-OTHER-KEYWORDS (cant post url's yet) so they aren't technically in the domain itself, and I have yet to even rank on these keywords yet.

2. I have been using socialmonkee, Ezines, and a few paid blog networks for backlinks but i just started backlinking a few days ago.

I guess my question is, I'm getting great rank on my keyword for my exact match domain but horrible rank on the other keywords that AREN'T exact match the www mysite com/KEYWORD URL's Is this normal? are they just harder to rank for? Have I not given them enough time yet to rank?

Thank you so much, you guys have already helped me out a ton, I appreciate any feedback!

-Bob

It is certainly more harder to rank for keywords that are not mentioned in your domain. But the good thing is, all this can be cut short with quality back links.

Get authoritative backlinks to your home page and at the same time build quality links to your other page and ensure you properly optimize your page.

Matt Cutts has said that they have "dialed down" the exact KW domain name. So yes - it used to be powerful, but not as much anymore.

Adding fresh content on other web 2.0/blogging networks and linking back to your domain with the keywords whether they exist or not in your domain help the website/pages to come up in SERPS.

I see, I have about 20 articles for my site each targeting a specific keyword, and all the anchor text linking back to those articles have been their own keywords and maybe one to my root domain. Would you say this is a good strategy?

Yes, plus you can make lots of backlinks to the 2.0 sites, which would be dangerous to do to your own site, and get most of the link-power passed to your main site.

Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate the help. I noticed one weird thing though, one of my articles i posted on goarticles was ranked 50th on google, where my website with the original article is ranked about 180th. Is this common? Is it just because they have a higher page rank?

Also, Is adsense basically a "if you not on the first page you make no money, and then when you hit first page you make good money" depending on how good your CTR is of course?

Thanks Mike, makes sense. I'll see how things go in the next few weeks, I'm backlinking as much as I can with high quality links.

18 keywords I'm trying to rank for. Why would it be harder then 6? I mean other then the obvious more back linking work, what I guess I mean is, wouldn't it be just as hard as having 3 sites rank for 6 keywords each as one site to rank for 18?

I'm fortunate enough to be able to devote myself to this full time, so I am definitely trying my best to put the time in, and I'm outsourcing most of the menial tasks. Just out of curiosity what kind of time are you talking about that a site like this would require, again just trying to get an idea as I'm still new to this an want as many other opinions as I can get

Just as a follow up for anyone reading this thread, I just checked my rank on another keyword that was ranked 170th, it just jumped to 23rd, so im very happy about that, and it answers my question that yes it can be done.

    Hi Bob good stuff mate,

What I would suggest is dont just back link your front page, back link the sub pages you are trying to get ranked for specific keywords too.

Just thought I would put that out there incase you werent already.

You have a very young domain so slow and steady will win your race mate. Blasting it with heaps of links will just make it dance a lot and maybe drop off altogether for a while. Young sites need to be nurtured a bit at the start

Sounds like you are on your way though mate.

The obvious question is have you been building backlinks to your inner pages?

If all your backlinks and anchor text are directed to your home page, then it's little surprise your other pages aren't ranking well.
