Greetings, I have a 50+ sites ready to go in the real estate niche. I am trying to convince real estate industry folks to add unique/original content with back links to their site(s). I'm not charging them - just want the content. As marketers by trade really, I figured it was an easy sell - however has proven to be just the opposite. Any ideas will be much welcomed!

It's probably difficult to do because anybody that has original content either wants to post it on their own site or submit it popular article directories to get a backlink that way. Other than writing the articles yourself or hiring a writer I'm afraid that until your site has some authority not many people are going to write content for you.

What I'd try is this: Write a list of 50 or so questions you have about real estate.

Then, either just hire a writer to write original content about all 50 of those questions OR call up the real estate places and see if you can get five minute interviews with them, asking them one question each. Then use what they say as your original content. Put the back links in as a favor.

Your problem is that you're not 'selling' the benefit of the back link well enough or clearly enough to get them to respond to that.

Each site is geographic specific. But you are right, I need to start with writing or have written for me content. Then they may follow once the sights begin to rank - although the rank well in Yahoo. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Honestly I think you're going to run into a brick wall because in order to convince them to write content, they would have to understand that a backlink is useful for their site. You might have better luck creating your own space shuttle from junkyard scraps and landing on the moon.
