Question about multiple sites in same niche

Hi

I have a question about Adsense.

Is it against the TOS to have a bunch (6-12) of sites (all on a HG reseller's acct) all in the same small niche and use Adsense?

Example: redbike .com
largebike .com
largeredbike .com
largebluebike .com
greenbikesrock .com
ilikebikes .com

Maybe a bad example but pretty close to the idea I'm trying to convey.

They won't be MFA sites, all will be relevant to the cause.

Thanks, Joe

  • Not exactly against Adsense rules, but it is frowned upon by the webmaster guidelines.

Not to mention you would probably have better SEO success if you just made one site with sub-directories for each topic since they are related.

  • No offense but why would any one want to do this?
  • Thanks for the fast reply retsek.

What would cause it to be frowned upon if each site held it's own with regards to the keywords it was trying to rank for? User friendly and helpful, unique content, etc.

    Thanks
  • I don't think it is a good idea. I think one site that you use and get it up in the rankings. Concentrate using your "on page" and "off page" SEO to get more notice and if you know how to do that you will definitely benefit.

  • outwest,

It was just a matter of jumping the gun and picking up domain names before learning that it wasn't necessary. Rookie mistake!
  • I would not waste more time and money trying to backlink that many domains
just put all the kws on an authority site as pages

    www.maindomain.com/largebike.html
    www.maindomain.com/largeredbike.html

    etc

    • Wouldn't it be the same amount of work to backlink another page on the site as it would the home page of a separate site?

  • With the Google algo changes this year, they are looking to return sites of value in search results instead of 'thin-affilate' sites and made-for-adsense sites. That's how a solid website is worth more than one that was just made in order to try to grab rankings.

Deep links (those that link to inner pages) are valuable. If people are organically linking to your inner pages, then you're doing something right and creating pages of value.

No, that's not against the TOS.

I have 3 larger Adsense sites (around 1K pages each site) that are in the same niche. They don't all target the exact same keywords, but they are still 100% related to each other.

Works good because you can pass traffic back & forth between sites, since all the sites are related.

  • I have 3 sites in the tanning niche.
All 3 kickin butt til Oct 13 when one got put in the bowels

Other 2 are still $30+/day sites

  • It's not against the TOS of AdSense, but I think a better solution would be to have one domain and create subdomains for each of your keywords.

    • Subdomains is not the way to go for SEO. Things like domain authority and links juice dont flow the same way they do with with subfolders.

I would reserve the use of sub-domains as a way to separate DIFFERENT types of content on a large site. For example, you have your main site with thousands of 1,000 word articles and you put you user-generated forum on a sub-domain. A user-generated space might have things like thin content (profile pages), less than ideal outgoing links, duplicate content copied from other sites, and more. Having a sub-domains puts a slight buffer between things like that. Plus it's Panda approved.

  • i wouldnt use subdomains, just use other pages like bikeniche[dot]com/secondkeyword

most of my inner pages rank better than my darn root lvl domain lol.
