Any one has any ranking experience for EMD .us domain if you want to rank just for us.
EMD .com .org .net and with suffix prefix all are taken i am looking for the best alternative for a local us business website. Would you think it would be the best alternative if you just want to rank for US?

I have seen .US domain ranking well in Google.com. Definitely it should be the best alternative if you just want to rank for US.

I believe it's worse than com/net/org but still better than .info

    Cheers,

I agree... since it's only intended for the US then a ".us" domain would do good

The main question is, Will it dominate in Google US. If there is EMD of .com?
I have also seen .us ranking over .com even .uk ranking in .us.
Why bother for EMD.com than. We can have EMD.us for US visitors and .UK for UK visitors.

Has nothing to do with being an EMD. It has to do with what one
does with the site, and the competition, and how well you can
do the right things with it.

An EMD .com does not just beat another EMD with a different
      extension based on air.

If this EMD stuff actually mattered, then one must pity the
billions of webmasters who were not first to buy the EMD. They
might as well just pack it in. After all, there is only one, and
only one EMD available. So google may as well just show that
      site as the only result.

The guys that bought internetmarketingforums.com sure are
beating the pants off warriorforum.com. Oh wait. They
      bought the .net. Go figure.

Pity. This forum could be so useful.

Amazon.com shoulda coulda hadda oughtta. Dang they
blew it with that domain. Books.com is just light years
ahead on that online book sales thing.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

+1 Speaks the truth, although I was skeptical at first, when I tested this out...it really matter about content and what you do with it, etc. Good post Paul.

EMD's are easier to rank. They require less SEO efforts to rank well for the specific keywords. I am not concerning about DO EMD's Work or not. ( I KNOW THEY WORK ).
I just wanted to know who has registered .us EMD domain and got higher ranking or we can say have the same result as EMD . com domains.

.us, .co are good alternatives, but from SEO point of view, it doesn't really matter what domain you pick. The only thing that matters is if you want to rank in a specific country only, then pick that country's domain extension.

If you have the time and patience just go ahead and test it. If it fails move on to another version of the domain with a .com etc.

  • Personally I'd rather use the .com and add an single letter to the end of it. E.g keywordx.com

      Yeah !!!
But why bother for irrelevant traffic?
I surely gonna test it as i just want to target US search.
I know EMD works and we can rank it high with very low SEO efforts.
