Hey guys,

I have an affiliate site which I promote there an Amazon product and for the main keyword which is a two words keyword I am #2 in Google UK and #1 is Amazon UK.

Google each and every day replaces the spots of the first 5 sites but Amazon always stays #1. So at times my site is #3, #5, #2 but Amazon keeps its #1 steady at all times.

Any idea if it's possible to be #1 and outrank Amazon?

Thank you all.

Yes it's certainly possible. Many of my websites have rankings above Amazon, beating them is just about adding more high quality backlinks until you eventually outrank. It's also possible to rank above the shopping results it just requires you to do the same as mentioned above.

    • Yes it definitely is.
Remember you are ranking pages, not sites, so all you have to do is outrank that page. Overall, their site is very powerful, but if your page is better optimized than their page, then there is no reason why you can't outrank them.

Outranking Amazon need more high QUALITY Back links with the targeted keywords than Amazon have. It may take longer than you are estimated.

But must consider the FACT it is impossible as during the time you will build a hundred links doing a very HARD work, Amazon will have a thousands without any effort. Since Amazon is most popular and trusted site everyone will Link it if s/he falls in that niche. But you will be asking them for a back link and Amazon will have the back link without asking.

Conceptually POSSIBLE: you only need more high quality back links with the targeted keywords than Amazon have.

Fact IMPOSSIBLE: Amazon will have more quality back links than you ever.
Reason: Amazon is more popular and trusted than your website. The time in which you will have hundred quality back links Amazon will have thousands more quality back links. This way you can not beat the back link profile of Amazon and hence it is not possible to outrank Amazon.

Completely untrue. Why are you even telling people this.

Obviously you can outrank them, it just depends how much work is needed. Just analyze your target page to see what it takes.

      FACT INCORRECT

If you are talking about specific products or even product groups, then it can be relatively easy to outrank Amazon as a lot of those pages will have minimal backlinks.

Have you checked how many backlinks Amazon's page has using a backlink checker?

I've heard that when new consumer reviews get added to Amazon, google counts that as new content so that makes it harder to outrank them. So if the product is currently getting a lot of new reviews, it will likely be tough.

That isn't correct info. Amazon don't get loads of backlinks for every product, it depends on the popularity of the product. Also its not just about backlinks, there are other factors which effect the ranking such as the content.

Agreed. Not all Amazon pages are unbeatable. If it's book niche, then probably yeah, you won't get to the first spot but if it's something completely different, small-competition niche than it can be possible. Maybe Amazon doesn't have lots of reviews and traffic there, it's just more convenient for Google to show it until a better site comes up.

Yes, it is possible to outrank amazon. Try this technique: spy on the amazon site's backlinks using baclinkwatch.com: The Leading Backlink Watch Site on the Net and then try to put your backlinks on the same sites using your targeted keywords as anchor text.

Amazon uses it's affiliates to gain backlinks just like any other site.

      For example:

Lets say I would like to sell Sony cameras from Amazon. I would create an article about Sony cameras using the anchor text "Sony Cameras" linked to Amazons product. I then get paid if someone clicks on it and purchases a camera.

This is an easy way for them to gain many backlinks without doing any work. Do you thing Amazon actually builds its own links? It's done unknowingly by thousands of affiliates. You may be trying to outrank Amazon with their own product by promoting it with a backlink on your site.

If you sign up for a good number of blog networks and start gaining regular links then you will definitely beat amazon with less efforts.

It is an extremely difficult task if you want to outrank it with popular keywords. Otherwise you can outrank Amazon in less popular niches. It is similar to outranking Wikipedia. You need good authority backlinks for doing so.
