Need help on anchor link optimization

Hi,

Suppose I have a keyword "homes for sale in los velez" and I just just building the links for this keyword.

Will it helps the other keywords like "homes for sale" and "homes in los velez".

    I would recommend that as it adds some diversity. I'd also build some really natural looking likes like "click here for listing" "view los velez homes here" etc etc

      It definitely will help. When i rank for a keyword (and every person you ask will give you a different answer) i like to use 70% my main keyword. 25% LSI keywords and the rest a mix of niche related keywords and the domain name.

    Don't link using only your main keyword. Use other related longer- and shorter-tail keywords to make the backlinks look more natural.

    But yes, even if you used the mentioned long-tail keyword as anchor text only, you would still get boost for the other related keywords you mentioned. At the end of the day, backlinks are backlinks and still carry value even if the anchor text is unrelated to your website.

    I would also include some links (maybe 5-10% of all links) with anchor like "Click Here" or "This Website". This makes your backlinking strategy look even more natural and diverse.

    Yes it will help in the long term but as you can guess, the keywords which are selected as anchors will be having better chances of getting higher ranks. Long-tail keywords like the one you have mentioned in here can be very useful to select while choosing proper anchors for the links because they will be having better chances of getting rewarded with higher ranks than using one or two-word terms that are too competitive in most cases, targeted by lots of websites.

    It is even logical to assume your long-tail keywords will be used more often by people who search Google for relevant terms because sentence-long keywords look more natural and easy to use by net audience and web surfers. For instance, regarding your case, the real customers might not actually use homes for sale that often because they usually look for local listings and narrowed down searches and queries and your long-tail keywords would be doing the job better.
