Traffic and time of year

hi there. This is the first thread I started here

I started building niche sites a few months ago, and at the beginning of december started to roll in money consistently, with almost every day receiving several dollars of income for my first site.

In the past week, however, traffic has been low, with a few 0 dollar days.

I imagine this has to do with the holiday season, people shopping and going to christmas parties and not searching online.

Is this a common phenomenon? Are there certain times of year that are high traffic/low traffic?

I imagine it also differs depending on the niche.

Any thoughts?

Yes...I have the same thing. Starting december i had some pretty high Adsense CTR's and revenue (not high as earnings but high as history). Now for the last 3 days it all stopped.

    It depends on the niche.
Like for example you will sell lose weight info better in the summer than you do in the winter. And even if I/we are working even in the holidays that doesn't mean that there are many people like us.

But this should be seen from another perpective too! These times are way less competitive, because a lot of internet marketers just take a break. And if you have the opportunity you should step in this and overtake.

Yep, I noticed a dropoff starting Thursday. Saturdays are normally my lowest days, but today is much worse than normal. Luckily things should get back to normal by Tuesday.

In a few days people with offers for typical new years resolutions will see a nice spike in conversions. Stop smoking products, gym memberships and stuff like that are things a lot of people are especially interested in the first few weeks of every new year.

Yeah, people are celebrating and they already got their Christmas presents ready a week ago so I guess there won't be much activity these few days.

As long as traffic/rankings are the same, i wouldn't worry about anything... The time of the year will definitely effect how much traffic you are getting depending on the niche. Hope that helped.

        Thanks, good to know.

The site is literally my first niche site, and I was shocked to see it performing so well all of a sudden once it hit page one early in December. I hated to think that there was a brief and profitable spike and then a flatline - the site hasn't really moved much in page 1 google.

The niche isn't so seasonal, but I don't think it is something you go search for at Christmas.

It depends on the niche. You have those ups and downs for every niche.
I can tell you that the month-two months, before the holidays, the sales supposed to be higher then usual, because people who order online understand that it take time for shipping etc. But now for example, when you have holidays at your door ) then im not sure you are going to see better results, wait when the holidays end.
