Market Samurai - Why you should NOT count on Historical option

While doing SEO Competition for a keyword, a URL showed 1200 Page Backlinks, I clicked the result to make Page Rank analysis and it returned only one backlink, same thing for Anchor Text analysis, one backlink only.

So this raised many questions, I had to go for trial and error to see what is going on.

I took the same URL to Majestic SEO (which Market Samurai Counts on):
1200 backlinks, and 253 referring domains
I tried to do more analysis and viewed the top 5 backlinks:
4 of the results Majestic SEO displayed no longer have a link to the URL!

Digging a bit deeper, I used the same URL on ahrefs.com showed 44 backlinks, and 1 referring domain. which seems more reasonable and true.

What is the answer? Yep! it is the huge difference between Historical and Fresh Index option. to get more accurate results, Fresh would be your option.

Here is what Market Samurai thinks of Fresh Index:However, a recent blog post on Majestic SEO stated:
#search engine optimization #backlinks #fresh #historical #market #samurai
  • Makes complete sense, i have always used the fresh index option, but purely because i didnt even notice that 'historic' options
