Exact Match Domain Question for you

Warriors,

I've been doing some digging into a niche that I have found rather untapped... of course, I can't give out the exact keyword but I need some advice/experiences regarding exact match domains.

For instructional purposes only, we'll say the keyword is blue widgets...

The keyword "blue widgets" gets 12,500 exact local searches monthly with a CPC of only $1.10 - but they do sell on Amazon for about $80-150 menaing I could make about $10 for each one that I sell through the site using Amazon affiliate monetization.

Blue-widgets[dot]com is not available outright, but for sale as a premium domain for $900. <---This sounds like a lot to me.

There is also blue-widget-reviews[dot]com which gets about 5,000 exact matches at about $3.50 CPC but is being offered for like $4,000 which is dumb.

Some similar keyword/phrases in EMD are:

safe-blue-widgets[dot]com - 480 exact local per month

blue-widgets-review[dot]com - 400 exact local per month

blue-widgets-reviewed[dot]com - <500 exact local per month

______

So, with those stats, I'm trying to decide whether or not to pay $900 for an EMD that gets 12K local exact searches... or can I just SEO one of the ones with lower exact searches, but include the primary keyword inside of it...

There are currently no SEO competition in this blue widget niche. Only department store sites and wikipedia... so that makes me consider buying the EMD for $900, but I would truly need a good monetization strategy to start off that far in the negative.

I have had one website bring me $200 or so a month selling a $80 product with a $15 commission, so I'm not completely sure I'm going to be able to recoup the additional start-up costs of buying the EMD - though an untouched market from an SEO perspective with 12,500 exacts sounds promising....

Did you check the .org and .net?

EMDs are far from necessary. Just grab a domain with a prefix or suffix and move on with life.

You could be busy building links to the site instead of worrying about the domain name.

buy bluewidgethq .com and dominate the niche.

At some point you can have all your keywords in your domain. It's not that big of a deal.

There's no way I'd pay $900 for the EMD.

Don't add any thing before the main keyword in the domain that can be added after the main keyword i.e,

    Wrong :- Safe-Blue-Widgets.com
    Right :- Blue-Widgets-Safe.com

This is what i have learned as a big info in my experience

    Sorry for my bad english

Thanks guys! I went with blue-widget-reviews[dot]net

Now I'm off to get it going. I may outsource the bulk of this one this time. I normally do it all myself, but I recently paid for some good articles and man what a relief not to have to write it myself!
