Social Bookmarking- A few a day or on a larger scale

Just curious..when submitting to social sites as part of my backlinking to mix up and diversify where I get links, should I a few bookmarks a day over time, or just bookmark my url/pages to all my accounts in one day? Not like 1000s you see people doing. Just about 30 to 50 of them manualy?

    why not do 1000 right off the bat?
