The most effective way to increase pageviews and decrease bounce rate is to write informative and focused in a specific niche (or sub-niche) articles. Additionally you should have your top posts at your sidebar in addition to the categories of your site.

To tell you the truth if your site is a blog your page views per visitor is not that bad is actually a little better than the average of most blogs. (of course it depends on what is your niche)

If you can find a video that appeals to your demographic site-wide put it on every page and auto-play it. Normally works good for upping the TOS and downing your BR.

Giving some links to other articles in the end of each blog post is very important. But you should put there relevant articles (so the user will keep reading) for that you will need a plugin for relevant posts or even better a script that gets the search term that the visitor used and show articles based on this term.

Just some ideas:

1. Placing related articles in the end of the article
2. Use popular posts option on your pages
3. Use a search box on your blog at top positions
4. Use intriguing Titles for the posts
5. Decrease your page loading time of your website
6. Do not make your meta description or title misleading
7. Do interlinking of your posts

The simplest one would be to place a relevant youtube video. People will click and watch and time will pass

Also you can take a squeeze page aproach: at the end of you article place very informative snippet of other articles. Sort of Call To Action to click on other article

I find that the best way to keep people on your site is to offer them useful and helpful information.

If people come to your site and find what they are looking they will stay.

Just a reminder, they do take on board the time on your site compared to the length of information. If you have 10 six line paragraphs and they're on your site for a few seconds and bounces I presume Google will take this as spam. Where as if your site is 10 six line paragraphs and they're on your site for 3 minutes and interact with other pages, one would presume that your content is informative and "enjoyable".

If people are clicking on to your website and not seeing what they expect to want to read then this again is a variable. You just need to get the right balance. If people are bouncing off your website straight away from certain keywords then perhaps this isn't what they were expecting to read and therefore the keyword is wrong.

Also try to to fix your visitor's view in the accessories related to that pages by putting games and quotation related to that article.

Here is what i do:

- Good sidebar (Use copywriting practices to entice readers to click.. or most popular posts with thumbnail etc).
- Good nav (^^^ Same).
- SEO smart links (Insert contextual links to pages on your site within all your posts).
- The above basically means interlink contextually, this is huge.
- Related posts (beneath posts).
- Fewer ads overall. (I make **** all from banners, i link out from affiliate links within posts).
- Add images to posts.
- Add videos to posts.
- Good theme/logo/post images/generally site looks professional.
- Cache site so pages load fast.
- Generally use copywriting practices to entice people to click article headlines.

Make sure to show related posts at the end part of your blog, your page will surely be marked as user friendly and of course one of the viewers’ favorite.

And avoid using popups because it will only irritate your viewers and distract them from focusing on your page/content.
