Changing onsiteSEO after GOOD backlinks. EXPERTS needed - will it work?

Hello guys,

One of warrior forumers brought to my attention, that my initial concept/theory for new sites may not work as I suspect. Can you comment on this if you have experience?

1. There is a website www.xyzabc.com build around keyword 'CZS'
2. This website does not contain final content. Only few pages, titles, metadescription, keywords, few basic lines of text(with keywords) etc. It is made this way only to have ANY content while I add backlinks there.
3. That website will eventually be replaced by online store, when it moves higher in rankings. Store will be built around the same keyword( CZS) and subject/content. It will just have more content, images etc.

Here is the deal. I was rather sure, that If I manage to move my current website(with this simple onsite SEO) higher due to very good backlinks campaings (let's assume it gets to #10 with Google) it can get only higher when I lunch my store(which will have much bigger content, more keywords density...just better on site SEO...with already good off site SEO).

Mentioned forumer told me, that it does not have to work this way and once I introduce "final" version of website/store, my ranking can go down/change for worse.

What is your opinion on that? Can I really hurt good rankings of website with bad onsite SEO once I replace content with even better onsite SEO? Of course content is still around the same subject/keywords. I just do not want to show to my competitors now, how my store will look like when it is introduced(that is why I use such "method" - with initial website, just to rank it).

Any experience?

sometimes if you tamper with metadata even if its for the better, google might make your rank worst before it improves... its a posibility and its correct. In time if you work your seo in the correct way, it will improve rankings again and probably outrank the previous site

    Hi friend.

From my experience, changing the onsite SEO and content is only good for the site, if you build previous backlinks to a site and then change the content after, as long as its focused on the same keywords your ranks will improve.

Be careful for implementing a store page though, as you are going to want to have multiple landing pages and destinations for every sort of keyword both organic, PPC, and with other ads.

Example being, you really only want branding campaigns to target your home page. Lets say you are creating even a site selling "modern tables". You are going to want to target the keyword "modern tables" to go to a landing page designed for people to go to a vague page where they can navigate to what sort of table they like. If they search for "modern bedside tables" then we dont want them to go to this page, we want them to go to a category page specifically designed for modern bedside tables.

Make sure you have done very good keyword research and set up your category and subcategory design before you start link building.

When starting off with a store site, you'll find unless you have a very specific niche, you are better off going after a large amount of long tail/specific keywords that have 50-500 searches per month instead of going for very competitive keywords(not only will they be easier to get, but they will convert better too).
