Hey guys,

First of all I would like to say I am not here to brag but simply to show what can be achieved if you put your mind to it. For a few months now I have been studying SEO and providing services for local businesses and decided to go out and sell it. Well this is my first week and already 2 sales which are being paid upfront for a 6 month period!

It can be done Warriors so never give up hope on your goals and if you face rejection, dust yourself down and get back on that horse!!

If anyone would like to chat about this feel free to PM me or even post in here and I will do my best to answer any questions that may arise.

All the Best,

Craigb182

Make sure to over-deliver to your clients. They'll appreciate it, you'll feel good about it, and you'd be more likely to have loyal, repeat clients.

    • There's no reason you can't do it Mike!! I was sitting in exactly the same position as you a couple of months ago. Once you decide that you want to become serious in this game, motivation becomes a bit easier. I always like to think of what I would like to earn and split it down into segments in order to be able to attempt to achieve these goals. I find it helps focus a lot more on what needs to be accomplished.
  • EASILY done... i've been there myself

    now the work begins.

make SURE you work your butt off for the next 6 months for both clients, spend the money wisely and keep looking for work to keep your sales funnel topped up.

money really isn't everything, and you have a real responsibility now to deliver the work, generate more work and keep on top of your finances.

    but well done
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Congrats. Hopefully you perform your services well, and they become permanent clients of yours.

Looking at this from a monthly point of view, you're making roughly $400 per client. Correct?

I have a question. How much time does it take you each month to fulfill your client's expectations? Essentially, can you effectively scale this business to accommodate a large number of businesses? If so, you're well on your way.

    • Hi Adam,

What I actually charge is £300 per month however if they are willing to pay upfront for a certain amount of time I offer a 10% discount.

In terms of timing issues there is not a huge issue with this as I outsource some things as well as taking care of certain aspects myself. Therefore this can be scaled quite effectively I believe, yes.
  • Way to go!
SEO must still be a thriving business for local clients. I suppose it's easier to pay someone than take the time to learn it and keep up maintenance every month.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Good stuff Craig.

I have two meetings coming up. One tomorrow and another on Friday.

Looking forward to hopefully getting the same sort of result.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    • Hi Ian,

Thank you for your kind words

Well firstly I must say I have not read any ebooks on this topic. I have read an awful lot on warrior forum in regards to ideas on approaching this type of business. I have also added my own twist to things and tried different ways of accessing potential clients which does not involve a direct sales pitch. This is a very interesting route which I am looking to conecntrate upon quite extensively in the next stage.

I was thinking of drawing up a guide of exactly what I did in order to generate interest in my services and how the clients were sold on the service.

I am also happy to provide any advice you need via my Skype or any other social networking interface.

  • Good deal man. These are the kind of post that make the WF such an awesome and motivational place. May the new year bring you success man!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Great job! Taking action is the single most important thing you can do. I bet if you crunch the numbers, you will find that way too many people on this forum simply don't take action.

    Well done.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • ensure you provide the best quality service you can provide...by the time you become a distinctive high-end SEO you can even go for $20k monthly retainer
    Congratulations! keep soaring!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Now this is a wake up call for those people who are struggling with SEO right now. Keep up the good work man, and upscale it if possible!

  • Thank you for the tip on my blog. In all honesty I have not spent any time on it in the past few months however this is definitely something I will look into.

    • Congrats on your success Craig, really inspiring. I love the fact you managed to get big upfront payments for 6 months work. I've never thought of trying that, opting for the rolling month deals. Do you mind if I ask what industries those clients are in?

Reason being, I do a lot of cold-calling and am getting a bit burnt out of going after small tradesmen type businesses like electricians, plumbers, landscapers and so on. There's only so much I can charge for a simple website and the big residuals just aren't there. Well, with one notable exception I lucked out on last year where someone I thought was a local "sparky" actually does high-end home automation installs all over the UK and paid £3k for a web design and £300/month optimization.

I need to step up my game and start going after some bigger fish very soon but I'm not sure which industries to go after. Any suggestions?

  • It's those that have the cahunas to go out there and get the clients that will prosper - as long as you know your stuff, honour your commitments and achieve what you sell them. Good job and good luck.

    Nice work.

I'm not trying to be negative, but you do realize that $5k is for 6 months of service (from what you said in OP). That's $13.89 per day, per client (average), not counting anything you'll need to purchase/out-source.

Can you provide the SEO services & still turn a profit?

    How tough are the keywords?
    • [1] reply
    • Not negative at all!! Excellent question. To answer this question, yes I comfortably turn a profit and I will be able to take multiple clients on in the future.

For the first two customers, the keywords are pretty easy to take on as the competition is low to medium for the main ones we are targeting however I do explain to any clients that if the keywords are competitive it will take more time but will be worth it in the long run.
