Another newbie question on FORUM SPAMMING?

By now, I already know the hazards [both ethically and practically] on SPAMMING forums.

BUT... would there ever be a reason to WANT SPAM on your own forums?

Are there SEO advantages from opening your own forums to mindless spam? No registration; no captcha; no nothing?

I ask because I often see what seem like abandoned forums on high-ranking sites, with good root domain PR.

If they were my sites, I'd purge the junk and clean house.

BUT, maybe dumb-@ss that I am, ... there are SEO reasons to have SPAM on your own forums, well-hidden from user navigation?

To me, there's not a good reason to leave the junk there. If all links are nofollow, then I guess it's not going to cause too much problem in the link authority of your site, since they are nofollow, but at the same time, it seems to me that the longer garbage is left there, the more likely it is that they will drag down the overall value of the site in the eyes of the 'all powerful google' and will certainly hurt your value in the eyes of anyone who actually tries to read the forum or site.

But maybe someone else will have an idea why it could be a good thing?

That's my take too, but if you have your forum hidden from user navigation, your spammed forum pages nonetheless can get indexed by google [it happens all the time]. I don't want the visitor to ever see the forum, just the SE. It's pathetic really.

And so the theory is... because of some crazy SPAM BOT, your site's web presense can grow from a few hundred indexed pages to thousands of indexed pages, because people are SPAMMING you?

And yes... to those that say, it's just bad and wrong... I hear you...

I'm just trying to figure out what works to better please the "all-knowing-all-seeing google god."

I can't think of a single benefit to leaving spam on your forum.

Just don't leave anything that is trash. It's not healthy to your forum.

Regardless, I would never want to run or be associated with anything that is full of spam.

Not only does it server no purpose or benefit but it also just looks bad. None of it is coherent, it creates a bunch of pointless threads, etc

You may as well write your keywords 1000 times over and over on your homepage. In essence, that is what you are trying to do, except in a different environment.

Leaving spam on your own forum might even lead to other problems, if for example something illegal is linked. In some countries the website owners are legally responsible for the content of their site, even if the content is created by 3rd parties.

Absolutely no! Doing spam and allowing SPAM knowingly both are wrong considered and is not good for your site.
