Sales page question for Google Adwords

I have been talking to an outsourcer who is supposed to be a Google PPC expert.

He is telling me that my Sales Page does not conform to Google Adwords guidelines as my paypal button goes straight to paypal's site when someone clicks on it.

He says it should first go to another page on my site which he calls a "form" which then diverts to the paypal site.

I have never heard this before but have not done any PPC for years.

Is this correct?

    I have never heard this either, and it seems doubtful. You could:
    1. As your expert to provide a reference.
    2. Ask in the Adwords support forum: AdWords Help
    3. Remove the paypal button and see how this affects your quality scores. I doubt that they will change but who knows. If the presence of the button affects your quality scores negatively, you could experiment with putting the button in a different HTML frame on the same page.

    In general, the best way to resolve any doubts in AdWords is by experimenting and watching how changes affect your conversion rate.

    No. That would be considered a bridge page. What you are doing sounds correct so don't change a thing.

      Hi Sandy,

      Based on the information you provided, having your Paypal button go straight to Paypals checkout page is in fact "acceptable" in Google's AdWords program.

      Perhaps your "expert" is confusing third party payment/checkout services with a "Bridge Page" setup where you are linking to different website for something other than payment processing.

      If you look at this link to Google's policy on this specific topic you will see your method, as described, listed in the "acceptable" column.

      Perhaps you should direct that so called "expert" to Google's policy page and point to the acceptable example listed on that table on the bridge policy page. The examples below that are referring specifically to links to third party merchants, not payment processors like Paypal.

      Now Paypal does have different levels of service and if you were to use their Website Payments Pro service then you could include a form on your own website for processing payments. However, the Website Payments Standard that you are using now is perfectly acceptable for your AdWords landing pages.
