there all over if you look through the right auctions. Godaddy, digitalpoint forums, etc. you can check pr with a free tool or paid one..up to you. Make sure you evaluate the backlinks though. You are paying for the linking and much less the pr. Make sure there are plenty of good links linking to it that are legit. No links from bad nieghborhoods, or links that are crap and goinv to get deleted. Hope that helps. You might wanna study up though.

Look for an established domain. Do not worry about PR.

PR is almost a meaningless metric. Why? Because it isn't updated regularly; sometimes it takes many months for Google to update PR.

Imagine a page has PR 10 and it links to page A then page A links to page B. Pages A and B have no other links. Then Google updates the PR and gives A a PR6 and B a PR4. That PR is based solely on the PR 10. Then all of the sudden the PR 10 page removes the link to page A.

The PR of A and B wouldn't change until Google decides to update the rankings, BUT the linking power of A and B would go down almost immediately because the authority they had has been removed. So for months at a time these sites would have PRs that are inaccurate.

When buying aged domains think of it as buying backlinks from other pages. You'll need to look at the links coming in because those are what you are really after. PR is an extremely over rated factor simply because it is out of date most of the time.

There are tons of sources for you to find high PR domains. With SEOQuake installed, you can easily detect the domain's PR that you are about to buy. High PR domains can be found in various auction sites like Sedo, Digital Point Forums, DNForum, NamePros, etc.

You will check the number of high PR backlinks pointing to that domain, if it has a lot of high pr backlinks then chances are that the pag3e rank will still be relevant and good.

You can use a software such as Market samurai to check the number of links on a domain.

How do you thinks if you buy a domain PR3 and after that it return to PR 0 ?
The key is to check the backings on the domain before you buy to make sure that the PR is accurate. If you are purchasing a PR 5 domain and it does not have 1 PR 5 or higher backlink on it then chances are that the domain has fake PR, meaning whenever google updates its PR it will probably drop

Many of the threads here lately exhibit that same balance of emotional extremes. You can't decide whether you should laugh out loud or cry at the sheer ridiculousness

Scrapebox has an amazing plugin called TDNAM Scraper which searches all godaddy auction domains by keyword. I spent the past week searching keywords like "as", "do", "the", "top", etc. It will return 50,000+ results and then you run it through the pagerank checker and then you wait for the high PR sites! I was only able to find one PR5 domain (which I bought for $5) out of about 200,000 sites searched and maybe ten PR4 domains.

Its a good news that you found a high PR domain and bought it for $5 but the pagerank of this kind of domains will be decreased a lot and their pagerank usually change to 0 at the next time of Google pagerank updates because many backlinks of these domains will be cleared by previous site owner.

I have no idea how you were able to buy a domain for only $5... I have bought several domains from auction myself and the minimum bid price is $10 and after that you need to extend the expiring period by at least 1 year, so in a case of a .com domain that's at least $20.

Add to this whois protection from godaddy for another $7 or so... sure you could transfer it to namecheap but you need to wait 60 days after you purchased a domain through the auctions.
