Does the second link in same article to same url count?

If I have a 400 word article with 2 anchor text pointing back to the same page does google give that second link credit as far as backlinks are concerned?

The reason why this is important to me is because I want to have one main backlink pointing to my target page but also have another link pointing to same page with spintax so that I can give my site anchor diversity.

I'm sure I'm better off just using second link to backlink my inner page but even if so, I'm curious to the the answer.

Yes, this still counts as a second backlink to Google but it does not mean the links are of the same value as a single backlink.

The links will be diluted as they are coming from the same page and going to the same page.

It would be better off either linking to another page or linking FROM another page.

The best outcome of two backlinks would be to link out to two different domains completely on two different C-class IPs (to be safe).

This way Google will see that both backlinks go to two independently owned websites.

Thanks for your insight. Seems like my best strategy would be to apply second link strategy from another source.

To clarify, even if second link is devalued, do I still get credit from diversity standpoint?

    I understand that I won't from a "juice" standpoint.

Yes, if your links contain different anchor text's then sure, this will count to your rankings for both keywords.

Best strategy is to create lots of high quality links from a variety of different sources while layering them with a second tier backlink structure.

    Hi,

    Nopes it doesn't count

Google Consider The whole website As a single source of getting back links

Only interesting thing could be the "Anchor Text"
