Been hearing about link pyramids and its importance in SEO ? I would like to start a discussion on this.

What is a Link Pyramid ? why is it important ..

Link pyramids are backlinks created in layers. Instead of creating backlinks which points to your main site, these days experts are creating valuable , contextual links on first layer which is pointing to your money site. Then they create more backlinks to the links which are created on first layer. In second layer number of backlinks would be more (depends on your strategy) and this second layer is mainly to reinforce your main backlinks. Also these tier 2 backlinks helps in passing the link juice to your tier 1. Another advantage which is been noticed is, search engines tend to index and give more importance to links which are supported by additional backlinks.

This strategy also help you to hide your precious backlinks from the evil eyes of your competitors. These link pyramids are a long term strategy and results are build over the period. Those spammy backlinks from forum blasts and auto approved blogs can be used in tier 3 or even tier 4. Important thing about this is, your websites won't get sandboxed (if sandbox concept exist) because those 1000's of links are not created directly to your money site.

How to build link pyramids ?
There are many ways to build link pyramids, it about experiment. Try out which one works best for your keywords. For example, if you are doing bookmarking try to get those bookmarked urls , create a RSS feed out of it and submit it to few RSS directories.

I use SEOLR to create backlink pyramids. Steve's got a real quick miniguide that shows how to build effective link pyramids w/ Article Directories, Web 2.0's, rss feeds and social bookmarks.

  Link wheels work with open spokes and link pyramid works perfectly fine for me. Have you tested this out to see the efficiency ? Also link pyramids are not for quick results alone, it just keep helping you in long run too.
  
  Before dropping a single line saying, it doesn't work , try some testing with your own sites. SEO is not just about reading but experimenting and experiencing..

  Link pyramids definitely work, and they're quite safe. Essentially, you're building backlinks to your backlinks, which makes them that much more powerful. See my sig for more info.

  Exactly and another thing is hide your backlinks from your competitors , but still pass on the link juice. There are lot many benefits with link pyramids and its so powerful, I feel pity when some come here and drop one single line saying link pyramid don't work. :rolleyes:
  
  All warriors , SEO is an experiment some thing which works today may not work tomorrow (example forum profiles pointing to main site directly), some thing which didn't work yesterday may work today in a different form .. So please try out which ever you feel like logical and take your call.

In these hard times where blog networks are getting de-indexed , relevance of link pyramids is getting better. Also link diversification is the key to get your bad links diluted and get back to your SERP.

I am pretty sure these link structures would hold good for years to come.

Link pyramid is the best weapon to boost SERP ranking. It is better than the link wheel because the link pyramid can not be detect by google. Instead it will pass the more link juice to your site which will boost your serp ranking.

thanks for sharing but I believe in Link Wheel rather than link pyramid.
And i doubt that both of them are almost out of work if you can't use them technically.

Link Pyramids are BAD idea. It is NOT sustainable way to climb the search engine ladder. Trust me, it's not. Instead focus on creating quality content, lots and lots of it.

The whole Internet is a pyramid like link structure. This is the most natural/organic link structure that exists on the net

!!! Completely harmless white hat technique - no risk at all.
Having said that, if you decide to build a pyramid and to use blackhat techniques like blasting onto your tiers make sure you are not blasting too many links onto tier 1 otherwise your site has had it. Keep it natural and only blast to > tier 2 or not at all. I don't blast at all because it costs as much time to blast as it would cost to build a good "natural" link and a natural link will be more powerful. So, what's the point? Ask me, I'll tell you how to get good, powerful natural links or I can build them for you. G nowadays appreciates lesser links but likes powerful themed natural ones. Thousands of page PR 0 links from e.g. social networks or forums with a domain PR of 6 do next to nothing because the pages that link to your tier or money site are too weak. They have no content and G does not value them. You only might get penalized if you are unlucky. You need powerful pages from strong domains that link to your money site if you want to get it up to the top of the search engines. Send me a message if you have any questions.

Im sick of the quality content nonsense, if you just have awesome quality, I can be Shakespeare and if I don't get any backlinks I won't rank in google. End of. It's important but cannot be done alone.

Hi guys,

I am looking to build my own link pyramid but i am not really sure of the best practice to do it.
Should i build the tier 1 web 2.0 properties then start tier 2 then link them. Move on to tier 3 and link to them from tier 2.

Is there a clear guide to show you how you should go about it as i am having trouble thanks.

Pfff no wonder that spam still sells with the mind sets of about all of the posters above me. Not a single serious SEO'er would spam their backlinks with blogcomments or forum profiles.

Think about it, if blogcomments and forum profiles hurt your money site, why would it not hurt your back links, pretty much 1+1 = 2, but somehow very hard to understand for many.

If you build strong links in the first place then you don't even have to spam them to see results.

I did not really recommend this method of building link pyramid or link wheel but still cannot say that it does not work. Many people around the web claiming that they have got very good results with it. I can see some of them here too.

Yes, you can do it on Fiverr. But i suggest only to search for gigs who do it manually. Otherwise i agree you can get issues with Google.

  People are confusing good linking pyramids lately with SPAM..keep seeing those news about XY company being fined for XY gazillion SPAM advertisements..but is inevitable thanks to what's easy and hard to do. Not much can be done to stop it I guess

Ultimately after so much of my experience I would like to tell you that it does not matter whether you are making link pyramid or link wheel or whatever blah blah bla....the thing is backlink should be from authority website. If you are getting this, then no need of anything like pyramid or wheel, it is important when the backlink that you are getting is not from authority website or not that much juicy, pyramid and wheels are the way to make your backlink more strong and juicy, nothing else. I think you can take decision now that what you want. If you are not able to get backlink from authority website, then it is better to get from some week website and make that strong to help your website, that tells the story no need of much chaos.

Can't understand pyramids.
Example:
I put a link on A.com -
the links URL is: (A.com/.../xxx.htm)
Than I should put a link on B.com, pointing to (A.com/.../xxx.htm) ?????

And how to use web2 sites?

I have a Drupal site, getting a lot of spam (inappropriate content) on the forum, I lose time to delete it.
What is better for my site:
1. Getting a lot of content on the forum (duplicate and sometimes inappropriate)
2. To close the postings on the forum (nobody cares about the subject of the forum)

I wonder why this site (PR0) is getting much more visits than my other sites (PR2)
Because of the spammers? But how do they find me?
