Hello,

I need to do a quick job for a low-competition keyword.

How is google seeing .info domains nowadays ?

Is it OK to get ranked quickly within 1 week for a very-easy keyword ?

    People have different opinions.

Mine is: if the content is good, using a .info won't harm your ranking.

The domain extension (.info, .com, .org, etc.) has ZERO to do with Google ranking sites.

I wonder where this urban legend comes from?

One person could buy a .com and another a .org or .info and rank number one over the .com everyday of the week if the latter's site is content rich and done properly.

I have been split testing sites with a mixture or extensions over the last few months. So far i have used different products but the same setup for each site so the results will of course vary a little but the result so far has been that they have all acted the same concerning ranking in google.

    So far i have tested:

    .com * 3
    .biz * 2
    .net * 1
    .info * 4
    .co.uk * 1

Seems to be no real difference apart from price and people's overall perception of each extension. For consumer viewpoint it's still safe to say that almost everyone not in the IM business that i have spoken has a higher regard of .com domains.

However they most have also said they don't really pay that much attention to the extension. More to where it is on the page. So really as we all know "above the fold" gets the business

  • There is no difference between a .info & .com site when it comes to ranking in Google. Just be sure to have good on page optimization & quality, anchor text backlinks.

I think .info is not a good option for ranking i search engines. Mostly .info domains are used by scamper, so people do not depend on those sites. It is quite hard to rank a domain with .info extension. But, it is not impossible to rank .info domains. You need more work than other extension.

I think .info is not a good option for ranking in search engines but .com is a very good domain for search engines
