I've recently designed several kick-ass looking landing pages and was wondering what the best SEO strategy wourld be? Do you treat a landing page like a website? I would appreciate any advice or pointing out of relevant threads I might have missed in my search.

Thanks in advance to all commenters

By landing page do you mean homepage/main page of a site or are your referring to a squeeze page?

A single page advertising a give-away with a form attached. No squeeze page.

When I do SEO landing pages, I create a blog page first. Landing page are mostly thin sites and it's not good for SEO. But blog pages help since it makes the landing pages updated by posting articles about your offer.

It might be harder to do SEO for landing pages, but as long as you build effective backlinks I believe it can still rank. It may take time but it can surely rank.

You are always going to find it hard to rank single page sites. Best to make a Wordpress blog and make your homepage the sales page but back it up with 4 or 5 pages of content. Even if they are just articles based around your main keyword.

Google looks at all one page sites, be they squeeze or sales pages, as though they are the enemy. To be fair there is only really one reason people would make a single page site and that is for affiliate reasons and that is what google hates.

Oh, grr...no wonder Google dissaproved my very first ppc ad I set up today!

A cple of months ago, I set up a blog just to promote a fat loss program as an affiliate, set up a landing page-no side bars or anything using exactly the info from the affiliate product, so I thought it would go well...but no, google said it was due to the landing page being misleading and inaccurate..I was..what??? couldn't believe it!

I should have stuck to promoting my own site, just for traffic, but since I dont have my own products, i thought this wld be a good idea

I was shocked and frankly very upset, because, being my first shot at a ppc, I didn't have great expectations as far as results, but the last thing I expected was three warning letters from google threatening to suspend my account when I hadn't even had a chance to edit my ad...wow

I edited the ad, and they say it wld take them a couple of days to review it and get back with me....
What do you guys think I should do now?

Remove your campaign completley from google and appologise for your newbie error, then do not promote these offers again. changing your ad will have zero effect here in this case

go back to promoting your product so long as it meets G terms

You are pretty lucky m8. The first few times i made a mistake they never even warned me. They just suspended my accounts. One of which was about 7 years old and my main account for everything

Well, I was didn't feel so lucky because the warnings came within seconds of each other...then the suspension, no time for anything. My appologies as a newbie error didn't count for anything, they refused to un-suspend my account. What did you do? Are there any chances ever to get back on Googles good graces? I know there's Bing and Yahoo, etc,
What places do you recommend for future paid ads?
          Thanks in advance..

Not really different from other normal webpage, just make sure you apply the on-page seo rule.

Applying proper on-page SEO to your website is a good way to go, but it's still hard to rank websites with single pages. But for websites with pages (About, Contact, Privacy Policy), they have a chance to get ranked well with Google.

Yes, ranking a single page is not easy. the best thing that you can do is add more posts to your site so you can rank it easier.

Yes, this can sometimes be the problem with ranking a squeeze page. You don't want to put a 1,000 word article below it because it's supposed to be a squeeze page, but without that and the other basic SEO fundamentals that you use for on-site SEO, you will struggle to rank it well in a competitive niche.

Basically the reason for this though, is that Google want to provide their users with quality information. Imagine if the top 10 sites from your search were landing pages with email submit opt-in boxes?

Users would get tired of that, and would stop using Google.

I made my mistake in my first week of my IM career. I used a read made 3 page site that was free as a tool from the affiliate product i was trying to promote.

So i was sending traffic directly at an affiliate page and got the slap. No going back account banned for good. Google are ruthless about this sort of thing.

I have a good deal with 7Search if you want. Arranged that my members get 50% bonus on any $50 credit bought. So you stick in $50 and you get credited $75

Thanks, I'll check it out later.

Since you promote a marketing guru, tell me why don't any of the gurus create some videos (for their members) about how NOT to get your google account suspended..something like, 5 MUST do's and don'ts to specifically avoid an ad being dissaproved in the first place... Or something like that.

I mean, yeah, members get all the training on adwords, KW research, mindset motivation, and all that GREAT stuff, but they overlook something that might be obvious to them...

All that talk about getting a niche, product, landing page etc, but mention little about the BASIC but CRUCIAL sins newbies (or idiots like me,) commit, I mean, what was I thinking creating a brand new blog just to promote a product, using the marketer's mini sales letter and ppc ads, banners etc, when I could have added the landing page on my more established blog? I just didn't want to make that site too salesy looking...and because the gurus I have been learning from didn't make a big issue about googles evil ways.lol!

I am still confused when they recommend building a stand alone squeeze to promote a product...how is that better (in googles eyes) than a brand new site with little content?
Just wondering...and learning the hard way...I will get this IM stuff some day, sigh!

Yes,the ranking a single page is not easy. if you sell a small number of products, it's a good idea to create a different landing page or blog for each products. There each of these landing pages should be optimized for different keyword.
    1) Your search traffic will increase because you are targeting more keywords.
    2) Your conversion rates will increase because your landing pages have relevant content related to the keywords.

We promote ourselves, not another marketer, lafit1 and we do have a mini course teaching our members how to get low cost clicks with google.

Mainly though we encourage and teach how to get free traffic from search engines rather than PPC. The main reasons for this:

PPC can be expensive, it is risky, if not careful with testing and placing caps on spending your budget can be blown in no time with little to no results.

Organic traffic takes longer to generate but is free and longer lasting once setup.

Sorry about that, I wasn't aware Guru Training Academy was your company...Still, I feel you didn't answer my question, why do most gurus Do not directly address the MOST important things NOT TO DO, to avoid getting your Google account suspended

...Or do they? Maybe I've been reading and learning from the wrong gurus?

      Thanks

    I'm sure some do.

We don't really cover PPC much ourselves but we do mention a few of the pitfalls in warning . I guess the main problem is that with Google you only really need to step a cm over the line to piss them off and that line's position is constantly changing. Google's wrath is quick to surface.

If you would prefer to try some PPC with a different company we do have a special deal setup with 7Search for our members which we can extend to you. Members put $50 into their account and a 50% bonus so get credited $75.
