Multiple Backlinks From The Same Domain?

I've found a great blog that has a lot of high PR pages that I can leave a comment on, with my anchor text... and I'm wondering - should I leave a link on only one page, or should I leave a link on more pages of that blog?

I want to know PROs and CONs of this, so I know if it's worth it or not

I'm well aware that it's not so beneficial to have hundreds of links from the same domain (SEO-wise), but I'm wondering just where that "line" lies.

Thanks all,
Zannix

If it was me I would get at least 2-3 backlinks from the same domain

I see it as your not pushing your luck and besides, it could be natural as someone who owns that blog might like your content and double refer back to one or more articles on yours.

This is a great response. I'm even more aggressive. I don't mind getting a dozen backlinks from a domain if they are all on separate pages. Multiple links on the same page don't add as much link juice. Multiple links on multiple pages will help.

My take on this would be, that If you are. It "leeching" on a domain for backlinks you are good. My experiences coming frOm various SEO and ORM campaigns tell me, backlinks do get appreciated if the content is good and you get some traffic from that link.

Now how do search engine know if you get traffic from the backlinks? Well it is a well debatable topic. I like to step and test different things while working on Campaigns and see what works and what not. I like to install GAnalytica on my sites to to keep the Big fellow well informed about my traffic stats. I have been that my sites that get traffic with GAnalyyics installed rank better than the ones that don't.

Again it is a very debatable topic, as I know many people hate to even go close to Analytics on their sites.

2 or 3 should be a good start. I found a PR9 .gov backlink and I also went in for some PR6s and PR4s on the same domain. It's helped my site!

First things first, there is no "line" that can be drawn to determine how many links from the same domain is enough.

Well, if there was, nobody knows. And if they did, the algorithm will change before they can post about it

Secondly, the PROs and CONs. - There are PROs, there are NO CONs!

See, you're links will start to get devalued after you submit them from the same domain even twice or more. How much they get devalued no one knows.

Also, as per the recent Google patents which became public, there is very little (if anything) that can be done offsite to hurt any webpages rankings long term.

So although you create as many links as you want from the same domain, there will be no CONs, the worst thing to happen is that it is a waste of time as the links get devalued to a certain point that they only give you the ranking power of one link.

Again, no one knows for sure how much they get devalued, and this factor would change all the time.

So in short, go crazy! You can't do anything wrong by creating the links but if your time can be better spent finding more unique links then you might want to try that!

Try and find the pages which don't already have many comments on too.

Many webmasters have more than one website. Sometimes these websites are related, sometimes they are not. You have to also be careful about interlinking multiple websites on the same IP. If you own seven related websites, then a link to each of those websites on a page could hurt you, as it may look like to a search engine that you are trying to do something fishy. Many webmasters have tried to manipulate backlinks in this way; and too many links to sites with the same IP address is referred to as backlink bombing.

In all honest, only Google will know this for sure.

I wouldn't get more than 2-3 from the same site though.
