Adsense newbie question

Hi,

I just started using adsense.

Right now I have 2 ads on each page (1 in sidebar and 1 after each post) and about 300-400 visitors per day.

I know that there are many factors involved, but on average, how many visitors would you need to have to make at least $1000 per month from adsense?

Thanks

  • A broad ballpark, I'd say around 4000 - 8000 visitors per day, but there are so many factors that effect this.
  • one of my buddy makes close to $1,000 with 5,000 visitors. But get this he many more sites with same traffic but makes less then $200. It will depend on cpc and maybe many other factors.

    • The question cannot be answered by anybody.

It depends on ads and type of traffic. Large
amounts of traffic do not always equal more
      revenue.

When you reach your goal of $1,000 a month,
then and only then will you know.

People make the mistake of just pumping up
traffic. You don't want to do that. You
don't want traffic that sucks. You want
targeted traffic for the ads you are displaying.

  • Cosign with Paul, I was actually going to say the same thing. There are days that you may make lower amounts and days that may rake in substantially more than anticipated as well.

I've not yet created a site specifically with content geared towards adsense. However, I can tell you from monitoring my adsense daily, there were days I made $2.50, and days I made $9.50, and I didn't do anything specific. What you make is definitely based on several factors, but one of the main ones I believe would be the types of keywords or niche that you have that generates better clicks and costs.

For example, my words relate to hip hop, but I generally see anywhere from $0.04 to $0.40 a click which is dependent on what pages they may click. However, take a different niche like Internet Marketing, and you may see that people may gain a couple of bucks or so for each click.

So yeah, Paul is indeed correct, more traffic doesn't always mean better results. It's what they want, what they see on your site, and how you disguise the ads to look like helpful links on your page that will get clicks and revenue. Find a profitable niche, and work on a site for it, placing your ads in good spots that catch the viewer but that look like it's part of your site, and start building articles back to your site and so forth. Targeted is always better than just traffic. I'll take 50 targeted visitors that may want my product or click on my links than I'd take 1000 visitors that leave in 5 seconds after visiting my site.

  • Informative post and comments for newbies, thanks.
  • Really helpful info for a newbie like me
    Awesome !
  • may be from blackhat trick u can earn 1000$
  • I make about $1,900 a month with an average of 6,500 pageviews a day.

My niches however tend to have a low CPC, but I've managed to create a wordpress theme with a fairly high CTR of 14% which makes up for the lower CPC.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers

    Phil

  • It depend too much on the CPC price of your keywords
  • your earning is depend on your website topic & website visitors. If your all visitors come from social networking site than search engine then your CTR will be low..

Tips: use large rectangular ads top of this website & bottom of the website like this was:

    ------------website title------------------
    ------------------------------------------
    -----------rectangular ads----------------
    -----------------------------------------
    ------------your article------------------
    -----------------------------------------
    ----------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------
    ----------rectangular ads----------------

I hope your CTR will be increased soon.
