The issue could be the quality of link .

Google more believes in quality and authority .

I agree with Mike, Google stresses quality, which to them means relevance to the keyword. If you are ranking well in Google, I wouldn't worry too much about the other 2.

As you would know, each search engines uses a different ranking algorithm. Since the ranking algo is different you cannot expect to see same results across all search engines.

More often than not, a good ranking on Google also results in ranking high on Yahoo and MSN. But this is not a certainty. It may, it may not. No one can be absolutely sure. Also changing something to rank high on Yahoo could lead to a drop in rankings on Google.

I therefore focus my efforts on one search engine. And looking at the search market share Google commands, I would go with Google.

Of course, the funny thing is that when people ask me: "How do you rank in Yahoo and MSN?"

    I go, em.......

All I know is backlinks, backlinks and backlinks.

You can rank in Google based simply on inbound links. Take a second look at your on page optimization and meta tags. Some of the smaller search engines. i.e. Yahoo and MSN care about these things.
