150 vs 300 word posts on BMR

What are your thoughts on this? All the ones I've been writing have been 150 words with 1 link, rather than 300 or 450 with 2 or 3.

Shorter articles seem easier to write because you don't need to fit 2 keywords in and still make it flow naturally, but longer articles mean you don't have to stop and submit as often.

As far as SEO (which is the main reason I'm asking about this) the only difference I can think of is that links further down in a longer post would get cut off of the sample post, so they wouldn't appear on the home page.

Thoughts?

I prefer 150 words posts with the link in the first couple of sentences. The reason being if it's at the end of the post it probably won't show up in the post preview on the home page.

Yes this is exactly right. Always have your link in the first few sentences.
I also prefer to only have 1 link article as it may look strange to Google if I have 2 sites, but they have links that are always in the same article.

Yeah that's my reasoning too. Just wondering if anyone else has any different thoughts as far as advantages of longer articles.

Most of my clients tend to go for the 150 word posts based on the reasoning you mentioned. However, the one advantage to longer posts is that Google likes quality content and long quality content so Google probably gives a bit more weight to links in longer posts. All of my clients want 150 word posts. I generally write them posts that are about 170 to 250 words to make sure that they are getting a post with value. However, I think that 300 or 450 would be far more beneficial, because it isn't just about the gibberish and a link but about providing quality content that has your site's name on it. I say the longer the better, provided it is valuable content.

I prefer 150 word articles with keywords included in the title or in the first couple of sentences. However I recommend to strike a balance between writing short articles and long articles. Google like long quality content. So giving up on writing long quality articles also mean missing an opportunity. Just weigh in the costs and benefits.
