Give the search engines what they want..... RELEVANCY & QUALITY

The search engines want to please the browser they want to provide the best answer to whatever it is they are looking for

Google and other SE use different ways to measure relevancy and they are constantly changing, but that's what makes the game fun =)

        Hey Darren,

One Guru says exact match keywords, another phrase, another broad. Which is correct ?

        What about the search volume for the keyword type ? 1000 ? 2400 ? 5000 ?

How many keywords per site ?

One Page per keyword ? or One Post per keyword on the Main page ?

        Thank You,

People do seem to obsess exact match domain may work better but google changes so often who knows. PR yes well search for anything ( with seo quake plugin ) see the pr of sites on the page. Quite often a PR0 will be leading a PR4 site...If PR mattered you would see highest to lowest numbers down the page.

If you know the rough basics of what to do it can work quite well.

As an example if you type into google " forklift sales geelong " my client ranks in top 3.

he was no where in searches previously, I redid his website, structured it properly and I have not done any backlinking to it at all.

Now he has spot 3 in google.com and spot 1 and 2 in google.com.au

      Hi Patco,

High quality sites are important. But also link diversity is as well.
Google will look at you funny if you say had links from all PR4 sites.

You need a mixture of we will call it lower quality links, mixed with links of differing quality.

Also make sure you differ your anchor text. For example looking at your signature you could have 1 anchor text being weight loss tips, another version could be tips for weight loss, easy weight loss tips and so on.

I hope that helps a bit.

Using Scrapebox and if it's useful. No one has answered that question.

If I'm able to beat PR 5 and above sites that are ranked 1-10 on Google's first page. They have a lot of backlinks, high PR backlinks, but keyword is not in the description, no content, no keyword title, no meta tags, none of that.

I am in 2 minds about Scrapebox. There is plenty of ways to find sites to post links on.

The sites you are talking about i dare say if you analized their backlinks their anchor text would be the keywords. Even if those keywords are not in the meta etc.

When you get deep in the rabbit hole you realize the "quality content" thing is a bit disingenuous. If you submit quality to 100 different websites and link them the same, you'll have 100 different ranking placements (can't contain the same space). This is the thing that bugs me/confuses me on some level.

This means some sites are predisposed to ranking well, while others are destined for long tail phrases only. You have to build your business model accordingly. Either going to eat with the big dogs, or fight for scraps with the little ones.

I agree. All things being equal, I guess site speed, site structure, and even graphics affect how the visitor experiences the site and converts or not - something that should affect the sites value in the eyes of G...

But does it? And how much? And "conversion" is a very broad concept

Good topic for a thread Aussie.

Looks like people really want info about getting relevant and high pr backlinks. Of the two, getting high pr backlinks is easiest.

Market Samurai has a module to help find relevant sites to post comments on. I just saw a much cheaper app (I think here on WF) today that does something similar, but I can't remember what it was... :-(

Do follow and no follow is suppose to be a command the the search engine spiders follow. If it is do follow they are suppose to follow where the link goes. And vice versa for no follow. Both links are handy as you should diversify your links.

          Hey Mr Ex,
I dont proclaim to be a guru, I just know what works for me.
Exact broad etc none are correct.
Exact yeah is good if your after a domain name, but expanding that too a broad term can also be good. Each bit is dependent on what your doing.

Search volume does come into it, but what matters I feel more is competition. Great keyword 1 has 5000 searches, high comp....great fight with all the big boys. Lower search or competition is easier to rank for and I feel more laser targeted.

If you see in my signature I have a free ebook that discusses this exact subject.

How many keywords per site? As many as you can get and still look natural.
have a main focus keyword for that page or post, but dont be afraid to highlight or link your secondary keywords.

Lets face it you have a low comp keyword as a secondary in post 1 that links to post 2 ( which is the main post for that keyword ), guess what do things right and you have 2 spots in google.

If it is showing your secondary pages these pages are obviously most relevant for your keyword. I would take a look at your on page seo of your main page.

Always do a mixture of do follow, no follow and so on.

On page factors are keywords in your text and also keywords in your pictures or videos.

As an example I looked at your prime beauty site.

Little seo things can help like the name of a picture when uploading and always if possible have an alt tag.

The first picture i seen was your beauty heaven award pic. Now it had no alt tag and the filename was bhaward.png

Now say your keyword ypour targeting was " beauty salon sydney" I would name the picture when uploading to your site beauty-salon-sydney.png

Hopefully you get where I am going, and that it helps a bit.

The first thing that confused me was the jargon. Web 2.0 properties. Really? Having a blog on wordpress.org has nothing to do with making AJAX requests (the original use for the term web 2.0). Then the word keyword. Everyone seems to use it interchangeably with key phrase. When I hear keyword, I think ONE word. But, that's not always what people mean.

The second thing is buying links. I see people in this forum who say NEVER buy links -- It's terrible! Then you look at their signature, and they are selling links?

i dont know why people do seo to create competition, seo just wastes time, we can spend this time in building quality content, but google has made us forced to do seo in addition of creating quality content, i never understand what is the purpose of wasting time on others websites by writing comments and all that, may be after making this world a global village all these scientists want us that we know each other visit each other site and think this is all natural . so to me everything about seo confuses me. may be i it is time to learn and understand seo so i am here at worlds # 1 marketing forum.

The second thing is buying links. I see people in this forum who say NEVER buy links -- It's terrible! Then you look at their signature, and they are selling links?
Buying links is a funny topic. I believe yes create links... More so links you have control of. Plain and simple.

Great comment here. None the less we need to create content to create backlinks. Unfortunately yes we need to seo our own websites, otherwise the relevance is not there for Google.

Seo does not need to be confusing. If you understand the basic principles it is not hard.

but let me ask you why do we do SEO or create backlinks.???

Of course to get our website seen.

Why do we create a website...... Of course to pass on information or showcase our service or product.

So all in all it is a necessary evil.

Keyword research is keyword research doesnt matter what its for.

If you are targeting local firstly use google keyword tool to see if there is any data.

If not all is not lost, as you type things into google search bar have you ever noticed it brings up a list of phrases. What this is showing is the most recent things people are typing into google. So although googles keyword tool may show not collected data yet, this can give you an insight into whether or not there is some search value.

As an example lets say i was searching for " plumber geelong " and there was no data in google.
In my above example you will see in screenshot that by typing "plumber g " you can see in the list geelong.

this can help you if you are trying to determine if there is any traffic for your clients chosen keyword.

      Hope that helps

There is nothing to confuse SEO. If you have quality content then your site will automatically high ranking.
