In continuing to develop my skills in SEO and keyword targetting I have been spending a lot of time getting to know the google keyword tool of adwords. As site builders and people looking to earn some income from adsense, we build sites that have certain focuses to certain keywords. When I was first using keyword tools I thought that I should be focusing in on phrases that had a "low" competition since I wouldn't be competiting against sites to get traffic and people to click on the links to my site. But I believe that I am wrong in my past thinking.

Wouldn't I want to be targetting keywords that have "High" competition since users more fequently click on those links making them have a "high" demand from advertisers?
I know it might be a little more ambitious to take on a "high" competition site because, from my findings that if it has a high cometition there usually the amount of search results for that phrase goes up and does the quality of those sites.
Am I correct in my knew thinking?
