Top Earning Adsense Sites not rebounding

This last Google update really hit some of my best earning adsense sites. However, some of my consistent earners remained the same, but don't earn me as much. I'm in numerous niches, but these little sites I had backlinked with several different methods to have diversity of links; BMR, social and articles. In fact, 3 of these sites are PR2-3 but are just sunk down around page 5 and even page 10 for my primary keyword that I was sitting at 2-3 on the first page before the update. I've changed the ads layout, thinking that may be the problem as I was using a CTR type theme. Still nothing for about a month or so. They aren't deindexed, but seem sandboxed or something. Any suggestions would be helpful at this point. I even tried having new unique content added.

I ran across this post in another thread and found one item on there that I was guilty of and have now corrected. I'm doing quite a bit of backlinking right now and my pages are creeping forward but I have no way of knowing if the correction I made will make a difference but tt seems like it sure could. Here is the link to the post and hopefully it will help you with something you may not be considering.

If you got hit by the "layout" algo then it might be several weeks to several months before you rebound.

However, it would be advisable to create more backlinks, add more content to the site and then see what happens.

I have a couple of sites like that; they got hit because I had a single ad above the fold, that pushed down the content. So now I have it so that I wrapped my text around the ad, and then went and put another ad at the bottom of the content as well.

But I wouldn't obsess over it all that much; build up more sites, increase your VRE and move on from all of this.

      This is a myth, ihmo

Can't violate more the "above fold" ads. Owned by Amazon. Didn't change.

You are most probably being penalized. Google is doing ****load of manual review recently, I've quite a lot of sites getting penalized as well. Just do a search "yourdomain.com" + keywords, and if you are not ranking on top then something is wrong.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm slowly working on them and just waiting for some movement. I really just want to get them back earning and them flip them. Working on a bigger project right now taking all my time. I just wish I could determine the reason they got hit so hard. Would make things so much easier.

    Are you using wordpress?

Something I don't see many talking about is how wordpress can end up creating duplicate content, which can cause Google to think less of your site.

Google Wordpress duplicate content. Sites such as

has some info on this. I am not affiliated with the site.

You might want to branch out and start creating some other types of affiliate sites if you are not. It is never good to have all your eggs in one basket.

      Jeannie,

To answer your question, yes I am using Wordpress. I thought it might be duplicate content possibly as some of my content had been scraped. I had outsourced my articles through iwriter and also had some written from fiverr.

I know the problem with all my eggs in one basket, but trying to focus on one income stream before adding any more workload and learning new things.

Thanks for your advice and back to taking action!
