Im new at web seo. I just started a site my web guy built for me and I've been doing research ever since. I have been checking out backlinks of my competition on google pg 1 and have a couple questions that I am curious about. I understand tags meta data keywords content/density. I am pretty much clueless as to the rest.

1. Is blogging good content with keyword relevant anchor text on multiple high pr sites a good strategy?

2. I noticed an article with anchor text linked to an article that links to their homepage. Is this better than two articles on seperate article directories?

3. Are well written articles with anchor text a strong sep tool?

4. What else can I do to build a strong search result?

Im in a city where my business (carpet cleaning) is only being seo'd by a few competitors, I see an advantage here, do you? I think with some effort I can knock them out of the way and get some serious hits and jobs.

It is more beneficial to post your unique content on your site or blog, then include anchor text..Other SEO techniques are Guest Blogging, Social Networking, Social Bookmarking, and Classified Ads Posting..

For good good quality links, primarily you need to identify relevant niche and be sure to create fresh and unique content and publish relevant high authority blogs with anchor text. You also need to perform others activities like Blog commenting, Forum Posting, Guest posting, Press release to get maximum backlinks.

I have learned about direct and indirect backlinking processes. Direct backlinking is a way where you create web properties with links directly pointing to your site. And indirect process is a way where you create a backlink towards your newly created web properties. I think this will help in creating bunch of backlinks without having your site getting penalized by Google.

Do what you're good at and then outsource the rest. How about creating a blog yourself, and then outsourcing the SEO???

    Hello,
Please find my thoughts on each of your questions-
    1. Yes its a very good strategy. But its not very easy to get a post on high Pr sites unless you pay for sponsored stories or resort to guest posting. If you can manage to do these, it will certainly help. By the way, why not have your own blog and update it regularly with fresh content and link it your main site with appropriate anchor texts?

    2. Are you referring to article or blog posts? if its blog posts, then answer to qn 1 applies here. Not sure about general articles in sites like e-zine.
    3. your question is not very clear as in what do you mean by sep tool?

    4. As you have already figured out, fresh content and strong backlinks are the key factors. Since you have very little competition around, it would not be very difficult to come up in rankings.

Is blogging good content with keyword relevant anchor text on multiple high pr sites a good strategy?
    Definitely, it works wonders.

I noticed an article with anchor text linked to an article that links to their homepage. Is this better than two articles on seperate article directories?

This is a strategy called link-wheels where you create many articles/web2.0 properties and interlink them all.

Are well written articles with anchor text a strong sep tool?
Yes, you need to use high quality unique content in your SEO campaigns. Using duplicate or badly spun content will do more harm than good.

What else can I do to build a strong search result?
A lot of other things like high PR blog posts, social bookmarks, articles, homepage links and many many other SEO strategies. Diversify as much as possible and you'll see great results.

    Hope this helps
    -Sarim.

Before doing any backlinking activities or off-page optimization, optimize your on-page first. Make it sure that the meta tags are properly in placed.. keywords, description, canonical, header tags, internal linking, and also your contents.

To begin with, start writing articles and submit it to directories. Post your article links on social bookmarking, social media etc. see how people respond to your article, ask for feedback from members. Now you can start your blog with knowing what your audience like to read.

Using Anchor Text for Article Directories and Web 2.0s is a good thing. It provides plenty of chances of traffic to be converted (in some cases). I tried it on Squidoo and Hubpages.

I agree about doing your on-site optimization first. If you do that and then create useful, unique and relevant content, that will get you off to a great start. I'd also suggest using videos to build your brand as well as backlinks. Make a list of some of your market's biggest issues, then make a series of free tips videos that provide solutions to each problem. You can elaborate more about the solutions on your website/blog, and have the videos link back to the related blog posts.

I agree with a few of the other warriors on this, particularly on the following items:
    - Focus on on-page optimization first
    - Love the idea of videos with tips, especially if no one else is doing this in your niche
    - Start a blog and consider outsourcing some of the more difficult/time-consuming elements of SEO
    - Article marketing is a decent strategy but it should be integrated with other efforts for maximum impact. For example, in addition to writing and submitting articles, optimize and distribute press releases, submit to high PR/quality directories, get social bookmarks and other links/shares from social media sites like Twitter, Facebook etc.

All of this is a lot of work, that is why you may want to consider outsourcing the more difficult bits and stick to what you know best. Good luck!

Compare offsite SEO and onsite SEO ,
I will start with onsite SEO , content is a king !
Work on your blog 1st before others. You can work on your blog keywork density, meta title and meta description, backlink from your blog to your site.

Then you only focus on offsite of create backlink like submit article, doing guest blog post, blog comment, forum comment, press release, directories and so on. Article would be best way to get quality backlink.
