Will an Adwords account ban cause an Adsense site to be penalized?

A few years ago I tried using Adwords to market an ebook. It turns out that was a mistake, as Google banned my Adwords account for "repeated violations" of their TOS. I didn't discover this until last month, and in emails they told me the site didn't fit their criteria. I explained I've let the domain expire, I am not the owner of the website, but they did not relent.

I use the same username and sign-in for my Adsense account. I'm able to create ad units and place them, but I'm wondering if my account is being penalized due to the past mistakes? Any thoughts? Or am I just being naive?

    i think they are 2 completely different department adwords & adsense so you should be fine imo

    I agree you should be ok as I have got a banned Adwords account (for reasons that still make me angry) but my adsense still is running.
    Strangely enough I can log back into my adwords now, create ads and can't see anything about my ban... although none of the ads seem to be running :-(

    Forget SEO, or affiliate marketing. With Google changing things all the time this is the best way to profit and stay safe

    I agree. My adwords got banned a long time ago but my Adsense never had a problem... <knocking on wood>
