My head is about to explode

I've got so many questions, I feel like if I search all 700+ pages of this forum, I'll waste time that could be spent out doing instead of waiting.

Is there a minimum number of pages you recommend for a site/blog to be indexed/make money?

Does content matter above all else? Or is average (albeit, unique) content the better way to go in order to get ad clicks?

Wordpress or Blogger? Is this purely a personal preference, or are there benefits to one or the other I don't know about yet?

If I submit 5 articles to eZine, am I really only getting one backlink because they're posted on the same site?

Just a few to get me started...thank you so much.

Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

You seem to be all over the place, and I was myself when I began in IM and on this forum. I've learned with time to surround myself with successful marketers and there's a few on this forum. You'll find them with time and concentrate on one strategy at a time with one good source (mentor) in IM.

    Cheers,

    David

I'm guessing the privacy policy page is required? I've seen a lot of these, but don't know much about putting them in blogs/sites.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

    - 2 pages + Privacy Policy page

    - Just make sure it is unique and not copied from any other site

    - Wordpress is more expensive (you have to pay for hosting) and much more difficult to learn. I would highly recommend Blogger; blogger is also more SEO-friendly

    - No you are still getting 5 backlinks; but 5 backlinks from 5 different sites would probably be more valuable.

Also, I've downloaded SEOQuake for Firefox, and even though Google Webmaster shows no external links for my blog, SEOQ shows 28 links. When I look deeper, it appears they are all "share" links or other weird things, all with the .blogger.com root. I think I'm falling deeper down the hole the more I dig.

Privacy policy page isn't required but if you're gonna be monetizing your blog/site, it's best to have one. You can get one for free, just search on Google for "free privacy policy".

Google Webmaster Tools is known for showing a lot less links than a site actually has. I would recommend using ahrefs.com to check for backlinks.

I've actually tried ahrefs.com also. It, too, shows no backlinks.

Stop worrying about the backlinks you do have; and start working on getting more backlinks and improving your rankings. Different tools report different data.

I really don't see what the problem is here... What's wrong with having backlinks from blogspot.com blogs?...

The backlinks don't appear to be backlinks. When I click on them in SEOQ, it takes me to what appears to be part of the design template within the Blogger template tools. Maybe I'm just missing something.

Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it.

Are you sure you're clicking on the right button? Either way, like I said, stop worrying about it. Google doesn't care whether a site has "bad" backlinks; it will never penalize a site because of its backlinks.

The problem with your questions is that, every person you ask is going to give you a different answer.

How much content to use is a personal preference.

How many backlinks to build, depends on the keywords and competition.

Where to build backlinks is all personal preference.

Wordpress or blogger. Again personal preference.

The first thing you need to do, is forget everything you are being told or reading. Sit down and figure out how you want to make money. Do you want to use adsense, affiliate marketing, sell services, etc.

Once you have an answer to that, sit down and create a strategy to approach which ever market you chose.

Follow your strategy and don't change what you are doing no matter what anyone tells you. In a few months, re asses your strategy and determine if it is working. If it did work, then look for ways to tweak the strategy to work better.

For the most part, none of your questions that you have asked are actually important to your success in IM. It doesn't matter which blogging platform you use, it doesn't matter how many articles you add, all that matters is that you are consistent in doing them.

    The success formula:

    backlinks + content = traffic
    traffic = money

Use that formula as a foundation and build around it.

I'd recomend using your own hosting with hostgator and using wordpress with them other than using blogger, wordpress or other free blogging site's like that. What you got to remember is with free blogging site's like blogger and wordpress they own the site not you and as many good marketer's have experienced they will just suddenly close your blog down. with your own hosting you have complete control and its better for seo purposes.
With google update qaulity unique content is a priority.

    Best of Luck

Just be careful with purchasing outdated, rehashed information. I would recommend choosing ONE specific topic and reading all the free information on it. One mistake I made was jumping from method to method - don't make the same mistake! You'll never finish anything.

You know, a blog with just a few pages can rank better than an overloaded full-of-junk one. It's about quality of content in addition to all the techniques such as on and off page optimization, kwd density, backlinks, etc. And, as a web designer, Wordpress, all the way....

Hi there, if you submit articles to just one directory, it will be five different links, but just one IP that is pointing to your URL. If you can submit to multiple article directories you will have a larger amount of unique IP addresses linking back to your site...
