So it has been a while since i have been in the "game" but i have decided to give ad sense a try again. I tried a few year ago and after 3 months of endless work i made a grand total of around $30... I decided to give it a run again just to see what happens... Its been a few days now and i still have not been indexed at all by google. I have submitted my site to google and today a few hours ago submitted a site map. There are a total of 5 articles on my blog, with no ad sense yet, i figure this is not point if no one is coming to my site.

1. Why have i not been indexed?

2. What are my next steps?

thanks, Chris

When you say internal links, do you mean links to my posts within my site?

External would be links from other sites back to my blog?

Yes write new posts (or edit old posts) and link them back to your old posts using the keywords you were targeting.

External Links are links from other sites to your blog, here is what I recommend for building external links(most are free).

    1) ConnectContent.com - this is $12 per month but well worth it. If I had only $100 to my name I would spend this $12.
    2) Articles - Ezinearticles.com, GoArticles.com, ArticleDashboard.com and AssociatedContent.com
    3) Forums related to your niche(do not spam them, useful content)
4)Blog Comments(both do follow and, no follow)
    5)Free web directories

    Hope this helps.

Continue writing keyword rich content that is valuable to users.

Having launched a number of blogs from scratch, I agree with derrickp that getting links back to your site is one of the fastest ways to get indexed by the search engines. Expecting avalanches of traffic to arrive within days of being indexed is unrealistic in my experience.

I recently launched a website with 400+ pages, and it took several weeks for the organic traffic to really start kicking in.

Giving AdSense a try requires some persistence. The first day I used it, I earned $0.63. And I promptly took it off, when I was naive and thought that I would earn more. It's been probably 5 years now, and I long since lost interest in the niche which continues to bring me many times that amount each day.

Keep it up! Don't get discouraged!

Never submit your site to Google. Add you blog to social bookmarking sites like Mixx, Stumbleupon, Propeller and Blinklist. This will ensute that you site gets crawled and indexed usually within 24 - 48hrs.

You can also add the link to your forum signature, on multiple forums. This means that potentiall LOADS of indexed threads will instantly have your new blogs link on them. A combination of the two will have your blog indexed in no time.

p.s. - With Adsense you have to be in it for the long haul. You need to keep adding sites, building more pages and doing your keyword research to find high paying ads. Then keep building on this. You will find that some pages will be big money pages which will earn more than other pages.

Also, once you get in the flow of things, why not add some related affiliate products. When you do that though, don't add your affiliates links directly to your pages. Even with the nofollow tag applied I have found that this can dramatically affect your rankings. Instead, link to a php file which automatically redirects to your affiliate link. Google will not see this as linking out to another site and will also prevent you from being panalized as a 'thin affiliate'.

I am currently testing this now so will be posting my findings on this forum.

I do realize this is all about the long haul. I also realize that i should not really be expecting too many visitors, however last time i went on this adventure my site was indexed with a few hours of making my first post. I do realize this is a long term thing, and i am in it for that reason! Thanks for the advice!

Most people believe you don't need to submit to Google to get indexed, just build links.

Others think if you do submit to Google you get penalized.

I find that getting a few links from indexed sites is enough to get into Google so I just don't bother submitting.

I woke up today and fired up my computer. When i went to my stat counter home page i noticed i had a few visitors this morning. I had 2 unique visitor which came from Google! However when i logged into my Google webmasters account it still said that my page was not indexed. Now i may be missing something but if a page is found when searched in a search engine is it not indexed?

I must tell you that making money online is not as easy as people want you to beleive it takes time and patience to make money If you want your site to get indexed faster and become higher in google search results you must

    1. Carefully pick one hot niche I would use google trends
2 Make sure you do keyword research
3 Make sure your site has orignal content it may take google longer to index if your site has the same content as other sites
4 Make sure you have good content and it will also be a good idea to get a domain name you can use blogger hosting but google takes you more serious if you have a domain dedicated to your niche

    good luck hope this helps

Good information but all of the below is worthless without properly anchored keyword links. With proper links the below is golden.

The best way to find out if you are indexed is to do a search like this one:
    site:byte-sized-marketing.blogspot.com - Google Search

Put site: and your blog url in the search and see for yourself. The one shown above is one of my blogspot blogs that has 800+ pages indexed in Google.

Google is still indexing sites on blogspot, so the question is why isn't your blog in the search results. Like everyone to now has said... lack of inbound links.
