Can I Change My Site's URL Without Harming Ranking? Input Appreciated!

Basically I have a site I made in a profitable niche, but I made it back when I was new and it's a hyphenated .info that I'd like to turn into a non hyphenated name with a .com, org, or net TLD.

Basically I want to know if I do a permanent redirect does my site's SEO power/backlinks stay credited with the new address? Also, if this is the case, do I have to continually renew BOTH domain names to keep the redirect (and thus SEO power) in tact?

    If you do permanent redirect to new website then your site ranking will be fluctuate little bit but you will get your ranking back in couple of days.

    You ca go with 301 redirect for your website. it will redirect your old visitor on your new website. which noticing them that they drop on new website. if you are concern about page rank then i think changing the url will effect the page rank. because google count backlink for old website but not for new one. so after redirecting old to new start link building for new url.

    If your site is already ranking & has established external backlinks, I wouldn't do a 301 redirect.

    Build a 2nd site, assuming the old site isn't a huge site.

    Then use the old site to help rank the new site with one way backlinks on the old site pointing at the new site.

    Also, If you do a 301 redirect, you'll have to redirect all the internal pages as well (bad idea IMO).
