404 Errors WP

Just noticed in Google Webmaster tools that I've got a few 404 error pages on one of my wordpress websites where I've altered a few categories names. Are these 404's damaging to my SEO and is there an easy way to fix them on wordpress?

  • The '404 Redirected' Plugin is useful for creating 301 redirects instead of getting 404 page not found errors.

    However, if you only have a small number of pages that need changing, you are probably better off just adding the redirects in your .htaccess file.

  • I've got about 14 errors. I think I might take the lazy route and get the plugin.
  • Your template may create this problem. Make sure that. You can try change your template. If you template is ok then install plugin 404 Redirected.
