Best ways to check SERP rankings?

I'm currently using a variety of different websites/plugins to check my SERP rank. However the results seem to be very inconsistent.

I use:
web-backlinks their SERP checker
searchenginereports_net Search Engine Reports

and Search engine rank checker plugin for firefox

Could my site still be in the google dance still (second month of backlinking)

I do not understand why all require tool for SERP checking? If you want to check your Google SERP then just simple go to Google and check there. Is there any advantage checking rank with any tool? Please explain me.

I use rankerizer. It is free, easy and will track results over time so you can see how each keyword has risen or fallen over time.

      @ seoforgoogle

The benefit is nothing more than speed. I can push one button and it will show my serp for every keyword on my site (I have hundreds) within a couple minutes. This would literally take hours if I searched each one manually.

To say of what is that it is not, or of what is not that it is, is false, while to say of what is that it is, and of what is not that it is not, is true.

Well if one has got 5 websites and 30 long tail keywords it would be very time consuming to check one by one manually.

I personally figured out that unfortunately none of SERP checkers delivers accurate results. In some keywords they might be right, but in most cases they deliver wrong results.

Rank checker, if you're only looking for rank checking its the best IMO, one time fee and unlimited keywords and a nice UI

I'm using the 20$/month paid plan of MicroSiteMasters (Microsite Masters Rank Tracker - Accurate Keyword Tracking for SEO Campaigns) and it really is great. What I like about MSM is that beyond being a website tracker, it let you track all of your actions and track the impact of them. So for example when I'm building backlinks to a website, I can enter the information in MSM and watch the impact of it in the coming days. Seriously it's one of the best SEO investment I did so far as tracking what works is really important to me, and I'm way more organised now

Agreed! Couldn't have said it better myself. The ability to "add notes" is such a slick feature because it allows you to keep track of the keywords that you performed actions on. That's just one of many features that sets Microsite Masters apart from other rank trackers on the market. I've never looked back since I've subscribed...

I like serpbuddy, something I been trying for the last few days. It's a paid subscription though, but for like $15/month you can track up to 50 keywords which is usually enough for most recreational webmasters.

As others have said, MicrositeMasters.com is by far the best that I have come across. I use others, since I don't want to pay for their biggest package but pretty much track all of my most important sites through their platform.

Sometimes perhaps mostly, you can only see your site dancing around the SERP through manual checking. The fact still remains that you will always get different results from different rank checker tools.

So actually, it is always a best way to check your ranking through manual checking. You use those tools only for the result consistency. About rank checkers, I personally use this: Page rank Checker: top 1000 Page Ranking: Search Engine Results Pages | SERPs Position Checker
