Hi all. First question here...go easy on me.

In Pat Flynn's video "THE Backlinking Strategy that Works", he mentions setting up a number of free blog accounts (blogger, Wordpress, tumblr, etc...) and posting a single post linking back to your blog. In this post he briefly mentions that you should have an embedded Youtube video, then a picture that links back to your main blog site.

My blog is brand new...should the YouTube video just be a "hello, here's why I'm doing this" thing, or should I work on something a little more compelling? It's also possible that if I do an intro video that I *could* make it quite compelling, so I may just do that.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

It depends on what your blog topic is. Can you show something on screen in terms of how to use something or compare your new site to something else out there? If not, even a little intro video is better than nothing.

The videos in the satellite sites might get you more if they provide useful information that may earn more views and links from elsewhere. Your sure that is to be original video, or found material on your subject.

First, ideally it should be something compelling. Second, there is no reason that you can't embed someone else's video on your blog as long as it's available for embedding.

Ok, I've got my first article written. I'm going to create a wordpress.com account and post it. Thanks all.
