A 301 redirect and my rankings question

I didn't take the time to setup site correctly, so I noticed that some links were going to my domain as http://domain.com, and some were going as http:// www.domain. com, and both could pull up seperately as my URL in my browser. My domain shows up in google as "domain.com", all my competition shows up as "www. competition. com" . So I setup my 301 re-direct so all points to http://www. domain. com.

My question is, will this affect my google rankings now that I have made my re-direct go to www.domain.com? Or will my google results keep its ranking and just show www.domain.com instead of just domain.com? Im hoping this will actually boost my rankings because now all my link juice is concentrated correctly.

It can boost a little your keyword rankings, it depends on the quality of the backlinks you have, now you need to do the following actions:

    1. go to the webmaster tools

    2. add your website without the www

    3. go to your website with www -> site configuration-> settings -> Preferred domain >
and choose ---- Display URLs as www. yoursiteurl .com ----

this will help google to know the right urls to display and to rank

    Cheers
