I know someone (Steve) in this very forum is attempting "almost" the same thing, however he is way out of my league and i would like to attempt something i think i can reach. First of all I would to thank him for this very idea. Steve if this is an issue, let me know and i will stop posting here.

Goal: $15 a day from ad sense earnings using FREE blogger blogs.
Time line: 3 weeks from today (march 4th)

I am posting this here so that i stick to it, having a goal is the easy part, sticking with it is the hard part.
#$15 #adsense #day

Free blogger blogs are good and easy to create but unless you are good at changing the themes and other stuffs on it might be a little bit of harder sell. I am not saying in any stretch of the imagination that you cannot to do it may have a real hard time achieving it but I have tested with blogger and I found it more difficult. The theme and the look of the site can have a lot to do with probably.
but since you are aiming for a less goal then it might be. Who knows.
Probably you are good at SEO and so many tricks otherwise you wont dare get into a challenge yourself.

i will be following you too and Good luck my friend.

    just my 2 cents

BTW. How are you going to deal with your articles? Are you going to write tehm yourself?
And how do you plan to get traffic and to promote it?

If you can outline the plan then it would be more encouraging for all of us to see and follow.

    Best of luck!

I will write the articles myself. I have found that having blogs about topics you truly care about makes the writing easy, fun, and shows passion which helps in article quality.

Traffic i plan to get from submitting to article directories and posting in forums.

    Update:

Got my first click today. that's always a good feeling to know you are getting somewhere.

    Quick question.

    1. 2 Days ago when i first began this site i was getting a steady stream of traffic. I got 20 unique visitors the first day the site was indexed. the 2nd day however i finished with 11. And today i am at 1. Why is my traffic decreasing so quickly? I have added new content each day, about 5 articles a day, meaning there are 15 posts on the blog in total.

Congrats! And yes, it is a good feeling to see progress

Regarding your traffic decreasing, it could be a number of things causing it. Throughout the years I've been an admin on many blogs and I did notice that traffic will increase/decrease on a regular basis with just about any blog. I suppose you could consider that normal for a blog.

Have you tried submitting your site to StumbleUpon and Digg? These two social bookmarking sites can sometimes help bring some quick traffic and get things off the ground. Especially StumbleUpon. I usually stumble just about every blog post on my blogs and StumbleUpon never fails to bring at least 25 unique hits within the same day. I've stumbled blog posts of mine, and literally saw 200+ hits the same day, within hours of Stumbling my blog post.

Hope this helps If you need any help getting traffic from search engines, or with SEO/Submission, let me know. I would be glad to help

If you read about SEO you would know it takes some time for a new site to bounce around before it finds its "place" - it may appear and disappear from google for a bit when it is new.

You are trying to accomplish something without a plan in place to do it. You are using a free blog rather than your own domain and I don't think you have read that other thread or you would know about social site traffic.

Your goal isn't lower because you shortened the time limit of 3 months (Steve's thread) to 3 weeks. Even with his massive action, Steve didn't reach the $$ figure you have set in his first 3-4 weeks.

If you are serious about this you should read steve's plan and his blog and then scale the actions to suit your goal. One thing you will notice is that he didn't put adsense on the brand new site until it was getting traffic.

If you are not getting the results you want - it's time to look at your "plan" to see what you are doing wrong. The main thing I see is expecting fast results from a free blog that is only a few days old. Focus on building and getting traffic with articles and other methods instead of trying to force results quickly.

You can accomplish your goal but it takes action over time not just a flurry of activity for a week or two.

You are correct. I was expecting too much too fast. I am however gonna re structure the challenge. The challenge is the same to get to $15 per day using free blogs and adsense, however the time line is going to increase to 2 months.

I have certainly hit a road block with my site no longer being indexed however this will not stop me as i will continue to push forward. I am gonna continue adding valuable content, and getting back links.

              couple of questions:

              1. Anybody that knows anything about blogger, how can i add a meta tag to my blogger blog? i know you have to add the HTML, i just dont know where i would go...

              2. can we try and keep the crappy posts, off topic discusions to a minimum, some people have been posting random topics that are of no use to anyone just to get there post count up, that is lame, let stop doing that...

              Thanks,

I read about this in two different ebooks over the last week, I can't tell you which books they were, as I have read more in the last month than I have in 5 years.

It is recommended to make a secondary account to submit 'your own sites' as it can be frowned upon... It was not mentioned what repercussions are in place for those who do it, I just read that I shouldn't.

I think something is up at Google - there is another thread about this (don't have enough posts to link directly to it - sorry). This is happening to me as well - 3 of my sites were de-indexed by Google yesterday. I think I'm going to wait it out for a few days and see if things work themselves out.

One strange thing, although this probably has nothing to do with it... All three of my sites that were de-indexed are hosted at GoDaddy. I have two more sites (all five are relatively new) hosted elsewhere, and they are still fine. Things that make you go hmmmmm....

If it is a new blog and you post too frequently, they will deindex you sometimes. Stupid, I know but hey it's google.

Same thing for suddenly getting a lot of link backs from other sites. Need to show a slower progression.

If you keep doing what you are doing you will get reindexed again. Hard to say how fast, but it will happen.

Yikes, nobody wants to see that happen! There doesnt seem to be anything on there that is objectionable. And it won't deindex your site for duplicate content, even it wasn't original.

Did you go overboard with your backlinking and promoting?

Maybe you can submit a request for reinclusion?

I would say wait for it for a few days and it should probably come back. From what I have heard it does happen with new sites if Google suddenly sees a lot of activity. Hold on for a week or so, if you don't see it again submit a request to have it reincluded. The option is right there in the Webmaster tools when you log in.

    Updates:

Site is back in Google index (for now anyways)

I have spent the last few days creating content and getting new back links. I have been using comments on other blogs about the same topic. My traffic has doubled each day over the last few days, so i am growing exponentially.

My next step is to begin crating a second blog while continuing to write content and get back links for the first. As far as the second blog goes i am still doing key word research.

As far as reaching my goal goes, i am no were close, but i get closer every day!

That is good news. It sounds like Google might have taken a bit of a time out when it saw a lot of activity, i.e those stumbleupon bookmarks. After things settled down it came back up.

Where is most of your traffic coming from? Is it natural google traffic? Or from the social bookmarking and backlinks?

    • This sudden de-listing by Google has happened to me so many times with a new site/blog that when it DOESN'T happen I get worried. Sometimes I'll shoot to #1 on the first page for my (long-tail) keywords...and then I'm completely off the map, nowhere to be found. Scares the **** out of you the first couple of times!

Frankly (looking into my crystal ball), I think that Google delists new sites that start to show some growth just to see if they keep going or get abandoned.

Think about it. If you were new to the game and set up a site you intended to monitize which got some traffic, and suddenly you were de-listed - would you stick it out and keep plowing along? Or abandon the domain and try something else that your Guru-de-jour suggested? Most are going to let the site go limp.

Then imagine that you were someone passionate about 'Kitten Kisses' photos with funny sayings who'd opened a blog. You wouldn't care about whether Google was ranking you, SEO, or PPC. You just care about those cute kittens. You'd keep on going, adding content and telling your facebooks kittens group about your cute new site.

It's a good way to quickly-and-easily tell the difference between the millions of new monitized sites and the millions of new 'actual real people' sites.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

By the way, kitten kisses is MY new long-tail PPC ad campaign (de-listed), so keep your hands off it!

Blogger's cool. If you create decent content then the traffic will come.

A problem with this 3 week barrier is the current climate. I see Adsense clicks of around $0.03. Would take 500 clicks a day to reach your goal with these click amounts. 500 clicks with 5% CTR is 10,000 impressions.

Hope you have some big paying keywords to throw about there mate.

    Update 2/19

    Blog has 25 posts
    Blog has 7 pages indexed
Blog is ranking quite highly for many keywords. I have reached my first 50 visit day. My CTR is terrible though. I thought my add placement was good, and colors were good, but i guess i was wrong. I am going to switch it around a bit tomorrow.

    Second Blog has 10 posts.
Not indexed yet but working on it

Each day i try to get at least 2 back links to each blog and make at least 2 posts.

I have submitted 10 articles to ezine all of which should come online tomorrow. Hopefully this will help.

Firstly, anyone advising you against stumble upon is just wrong. Stumble has sent over 200 unique visitors to my sites on certain days, and made one link bait post go completely viral and gave me 400+ diggs and I didn't even have a digg account. So definitely use this service.

Secondly, a new blog will move around in google's system at the start, in my case I was #1 broad and phrase match search for almost a week, then it was sandboxed for a few days. It eventually ended up first in phrase and 4th broad match. It's just the way the almighty google validates your site I guess.

Thirdly, optimising your adsense can increase your earnings greatly, which I just found out last week. I had a small block before my posts and one in the sidebar - a normal technique. Last week - by mistake I added a large rectangular adsense block to the top of my posts and m CTR went from 5% to 9+ and earnings went from 12.00 per day to a consistent 20+ for the last week. I was amazed at how something so simple jumped my blog.

      My 0.02 cents

Thats a great goal. You should check out the steves Hot Trends WSO I made $30 over 3 days with about 30min of work. The only problem with this method is that it is hit and miss, some hot trends you will make good money, most you won't make any.

TheHuff ... Good luck with your challenge. I am struggling with my adsense revenue (although, I have seen progress).

I do agree with a few posts from my limited knowledge, keyword research is a must. I spend a few hours doing Keyword and competition research before writing for a new new blog. I also have all the SEO plug-ins I need. I use Word Press Direct, which is a paid service.

    Anyway Good luck

$15 a day in that short of a time is very hard to achieve. I won't say it's impossible, because I don't know, but I've never heard of anyone getting it up that quickly on a new site. Adding Adsense to an existing site with regular traffic, then yes of course it's possible.

I make about $75 a day on Adsense these days, but it took me probably 3 or 4 months to get up to $15 a day.

I've done most of it on blogger. I usually buy my own domain names though, and just point the domain at blogger. That way I can export the blog to another format in the future if I want, but I can keep the same domain.

Follow Steve's method for selecting a niche and topics and keywords, and then keep adding more and more content and promoting it. Remember that everything to do with SEO has a delayed response time. Sometimes I add 2 posts a day to a blog for a month and see no results but then all the results start hitting after a month and my number of visitors suddenly shoots way up. So try to think long term and don't expect immediate results.

Taking advantage of the topic of the topic (opportunistic lol), I have backlinks on my blogspot subdomain, if I point a domain to my blogger, would I lose some of those backlinks? I was thinking about free domain host too.. bwahaha like co.cc xD
    Really small budget... :/

btw, you got 50 unique visitors that's awesome, my blog is getting 10 visitors per day, most of them are myself checking out something.. haha

Hey Thales, Back in the Fall I did this. I changed from a Blogspot domain to a custom domain. I did this as I was starting to get Traffic to this Blog and in the long run I WANTED OWNERSHIP of my Domain. I still use Free Bogger Platform but just have my own Domain. I used the Blogspot for a couple of months before changing and I had some decent Backlinks. When I changed from mydomain.blogspot.com over to bigandbetterdomain.com I lost the Backlinks but strangely enough my new custom Domain was listed on the first page of Google right under my old blogspot domain for a popular keyphrase almost immdeiately overnight !! So even though this new Custom Domain at slogger didnt have backlinks, it took over (or maybe you could say was transferred over ) the SEO results of my original blogspot domain. It had all the same info.on the Blog as the old one did !

Hope this helps with giving some insight !

Hey - great posts everyone - thanks for all the info.

Another way to look at it is this: rather than focus on the $ - focus on the traffic. Do you know what your click through rate is for AdSense? If so, you can use CTR and average price per click to set traffic goals that will support your $ goal.

For example: if your CTR is 2% and you average $0.15 per click, it would go like this:

    Goal: $15 / 0.15 per click = 100 clicks.

At a 2% CTR, to get 100 clicks you need:

    100 / 0.02 = 1000 page views per day.

Lastly, let's say that your average visitor looks at 2 pages per visit.

That means you need 500 visitors per day.

NOW: You need to set a goal of 500 visits per day and you will reach your monetary goal.

Next, look at where your traffic is coming from:

Let's say hypothetically you have two sources: an EzineArticles.com article that sends you 10 visitors per day and StumbleUpon that sends you 5 visits per day. (of course, there will be more sources)

In theory, if you can duplicate your traffic to different pages of your site using these two hypothetical sources, to reach 500 visitors, you need to write perhaps 30 more articles on EzineArticles (30 x 10 visits = 300 visitors) AND Stumble 40 more pages (40 x 5 visits = 200 visitors). That will funnel 500 visitors to your site. Of course, you're going to be playing with many more sources and the traffic from each will fluctuate, but you get the idea. In the long run, targeting traffic can get you to your $ goal. And also, this does not include organic search results and SEO...

Then, if you want an instant raise, figure out how to increase your CTR! )

  • I really think when establishing a blog, the last thing one should look at is the income he/she will make from it....

You should first achieve a successful traffic stream, and rank well in se's to reach your target audience, and then experiment with possible income streams (adsense especially)....

I do have one question that maybe one of you guys can answer.... If you have your own domain name, with a blog setup on your niche. Would you recommend placing each article you get everywhere on the net (not just limiting it to the main sites, digg, stumbleupon, ezinearticles, etc..)

Basically, should you mass market every article you publish on your blog to ensure highest amount of traffic stream, or should you do it for only a few? Will it hurt your blog more than help it with the SEs if you mass market every article published?

Yes, you can earn money in google adsense. I can finally say that using adsense to promote a certain product can earn you a huge money. In order for you to earn money you must know what are the most clicked or which I mean you know what are the keywords known by the costumer. I learn this kind of good keyword tools by searching in google. You can find google keyword tools by searching in your google homepage just research "Google Keyword Tools".

20% CTR is pretty hard to attain. I think a more realistic amount would be 10%.

I have some sites getting in the high teens, and some lower traffic sites getting almost 30%.

But I would say my average is around 7%

Here is how to make a few bucks a day using adsense:

    1. Find super expensive adwords keywords (think outside the box - I once found that "rehab" related adwords cost $20-$30/click - who would have thought)
    2. Register 2-3 different blogger accounts
    3. Set up each blogger account to correspond with your adsense account
    4. write a few articles on the subject of the keywords you are targeting (this is the hardest part because you have to do research to write them - expensive keywords require a lot of expertise on the subject matter and you need original articles to rank in SERPs)
    5. run them through article spinner so you end up with like 50 versons of the same article (you can also take some parts from each article and mix match)
    6. set up 10-15 blogs on each blogger account on the same subject so you end up with 30 to 45 blogs
    7. pick the ugliest, simplest-looking template for all of your blogs
    8. make sure you create meta tags and meta description for all blogs
    9. interlink them
    10. submit them to blog directories
    11. place large adsense blocks above the fold and the content below the fold
    12. with this number of blogs you will need to post on them from MS Word 2007. It allows you to post on your blog from a Word document; you will have a drop-down menu with a list of all your blogs. It will take about 10 minutes to post on all of them and you will be using the spun-offs

That's pretty much it. The more frequently you update your blogs, the more highly paying ads you will be getting. You can get very good paying ads once in a while and if you get lucky you can get $15 in one click. The downside is that most of those keywords are very boring and competitive, but since you can get an ad that pays a few bucks per click all you need to do is get a few visitors per day and hopefully one of them sees some ad that catches his eye.

Keep an eye on the news in your niche and write about it. For instance, if you decide to make blogs about alcohol rehabs, keep an eye on celebrities news and every time someone gets busted for drunk driving write about it and if you can get pictures that's even better. You are almost guaranteed lots of traffic on those days.

I am currently only earning around $2 a day with adsense. However my goal is to be earning at least $100 a day within 2 years time. I am well on track with that goal (may sound strange with my current income). However I am in the process of rolling out another 50 or so sites in the next month and will be able to work full time solely on SEO and link building soon.

Great to know that you are having a goal.Otherwise it is easy to get sidestepped with many things SEO makes us do to promote our content.
Make sure you check where your visitors are coming from (backlinks) and what is landing page and exit page. You can modify your strategy based on that. Also don't forget to reduce bounce rate.
