Why Should I build a Private Blog Network?

You might want to wait and see how this all plays out and make sure you're not wasting your time and money. That'd be my advice.

If you are going to go ahead with it, you'll need to be pretty careful apparently that you're not leaving any kind of footprint that can link your blogs together.

As long as its done with a purpose and not just spam you should be fine. However what MarlboroMonkey said is extremely vital, make sure you do not leave a footprint behind that links the blogs together. Blatant gaming of the system most likely will get you punished.

You can find a lot of reasons why to build one.

But some don't realize that it can cost a fair amount to build a decent one and if you don't have enough sites to benefit from it then the ROI just may not be there.

Also can you tell me how can I hide or avoid leaving footprints?

The type of blog network that involves spam articles probably won't last long, however those blog networks that are maintained by people who offer unique content will probably be around for many years to come.

For example i have a big mobile phone website that has hundreds of unique articles, thousands of visitors a day and content that people love. Adding a link to one of my other websites from this website isn't really a problem as long as you're being precautions regarding IP, whois info et al.

Well, the benefits of having your own network are that you're in complete control of it's destiny. Whether it goes up in PR, how "spammy/spun" your network is. You can sell posts made on it. You can sell the entire network for a decent price once it's built up.

Those are the benefits over using your own and not an existing one like BMR or HighPRSociety, etc.

#2 is the million dollar question. As these networks are getting stung the last week or so, it seems the usual answers here are no longer valid. The one thing I can think of is that if you have your own network, it's smaller, therefore should be inherently harder to spot by footprint.

Make one with free blogs and free subdomains. I have been using this method for my sites and clients sites successfully for a while and nothing bad has happened to my blog network, unlike these ones that hundreds join.

Google is not deindexing private blog networks very quickly. They are deindexing PUBLIC networks very quickly. I've always wondered why people call a network that anybody can sign up for for a few bucks and is advertised all over the place a "private network". I have a private network and not one of my sites has been deindexed.

The answer to your questions is that people build their own networks because they are not public rental networks and they can do all the things that they can't do with a public rental network. They can control the amount of out bound links, make sure they are not on a page with a whole lot of obvious unrelated keywords and a hundred other links, control content so they don't look like a HPBL for sale network, have links the NEVER roll off the front page or page with PR juice etc.

In other words they can do everything to protect their links that they will never have control to do with a public rent a link network and they have the benefit of the full power of their link juice not have it divided among hundreds of other people.

PBN will help you to get a good pr as in my opinion and get traffic. Also you need to write something unique in your PBN. Because Google likes unique content.
