Where am I going wrong...

Im really getting desperate now. Having a look at google adword keyword tool the keyword I am tragetting has 74000 global monthly searches and 22200 local monthly search and has a "low" competition. Why am I still nto ranking, I am not even in the google first 1000 results

    We'd need to know more about what you're actually doing SEO wise to know why you're not ranking.

    Also, a keyword with 74,000 monthly searches is usually a pretty sought after keyword. The "low" competition simply indicates a low PPC competition but is not the same as SEO competition.

    For this you have to check the competition for that keyword... because if you find that your keyword has 74000 or 22200 searches but its competition is too high then it will tough to get rank in short time....

    So now try to compare Monthly Searches and Its Competition and finalized your targeting keyword on the basis on analysis.

    For starters.. why would you choose a low competition keyword in Google adwords tool.. it means there is low competition for advertisers for that keyword, hence cheap clicks.

    Secondly.. on the figures you've given, its probably a hard keyword to rank for. Start small.. around 1000 searches a month will be easier.

    This is written all over the forum..do some more reading!

    SEO wise I was doing quite a lot before but then stopped. Yeh im pretty certain it is a sought after keyword. Everyone on page 1 has a PR of 1 or above with number 1 being pr3 with some homepage backlinks and high pr blog comments which i found using free seo spyglass. Im going to start aggresively building links soon
