I've been hearing that google penalize sites that loads too slow. So what exactly is an acceptable load speed? I see some google guy said they try to keep google.com load under 1.5 second. Now my site loads usually in 6 seconds, is that too slow for google?

    Check page speed here

I believe overall Page Speed Score of 60+ would be fairly acceptable and good for google

This WF thread page got a 62.

Heck you would have to have a blank page to get a score of 100%.

If you have google's webmaster tools you can check the load time they are logging for their crawler access. They track 90 days worth so you can gauge improvements that you make.

Mines about 4 sec, and never had any problems, don't think 6 would do any harm.
Try find out what is making it so long... try and remove unnecessary script, plugins etc.. unwanted iframes, images etc... If its a blog, only show 3 posts on the main page not 6... (example)

    Good Luck!

I did the speed test for my site and got 75%...

About 5-6 is best. If your site takes a lot of seconds to load, this will ONLY make your visitors LEAVE your page
