Is Scrapebox Worth It?

Hi, all.

I want your opinions on whether or not scrapebox is worth the price. What do you like to use it for? Has it helped you much in any area like SEO or in keyword research?

  • I can say from experience that Scrapebox (SB) is worth the price!

    It is a powerful tool which helps me rank both my clients' sites and my own in Google.

    Many think that SB is just another comment spammer, but it's not!
    It has many inbuilt modules and useful addons to help with:

    - harvesting and scraping urls based on your custom footprints
    - checking page rank
    - estimating traffic volume with alexa addons
    - blog commenting
    - pinging
    - rss submission
    - rapid indexing and many other things...

    So, if you are in SEO business (or just wanna earn some cash by selling links), this tool is a MUST.

    • IMO yes, especially if you have a lot of sites or are planning to offer seo work.
  • It's great for a ton of different uses above just comment spamming. Look around for a nice discount code though. Easy to find.
  • The use of this is something else, but it does take a few days to get used to it, but word of warning dont do scrapebox spam ---> money site, might not be the results you expect. I would not use the auto comment tool unless you really know what your doing, as the last thing you want is a back link from a site that has auto approval and has been spammed to death, find decent edu and gov sites . just to throw something out their for you guys in the states , a.c is the equivalent of your edu in the UK and yes the link juice is just as good or not better.
  • From what I've been reading, there is a lot more to scrapebox than just autcommenting on blogs.

    I've also read that many folks like to use virtual private servers with SB. Why is that? Why not just run it off of your own computer?

    • Because, if you're a heavy user, it's going to eat up a TON of bandwidth. Light users may not need to worry as much. But even then, a VPS may potentially give you better speeds.
  • Scrapebox is an awesome piece of kit in the right hands but without learning how to use it first it will have a negative result on your sites.
    As someone has already stated, you need to find sites that have not been spammed to death.
    You will also need good proxies.

    • Scrapebox is also really HOT for "stealing" your competitions links. Doing back tracing on their links is very easy with SB. You can filter almost anything, from blog formats, follow/nodofollow/captcha etc. And people are making "Free Addons" all the time. It's an epic tool.

      I thought about getting a new computer with some serious processing power, dedicated cable line and running SB 24/7 once upon a time. Found out it was cheaper to hire an outsourcer... :-p
  • JSProjects has the right idea...

    You can sell the lists you scrape as well. As well as keep your 'go to' house list for personal use only.

    I've used scrapebox to slowly build a list of about 100 PR3-PR6 PAGES with {dofollow} commenting and auto approve that scrapebox can post to. This little list of 100 links though took me weeks to build, I'd go through 10,000 URLs to find 3-4 that were worth keeping.

    In addition to that I've used scrapebox to build a manual submission list — ones with captcha code and the likes. Its only 25 or so URLs long, but it makes it extremely easy to get a handful of quality backlinks for every new page, or site you throw up utilizing scrapebox.

    You can also use it to get views to EzineArticles and some other 'shady' practices.

    • Finally someone who understands the value of Scrapebox, and how hard it can actually be to find quality URLs. I've got a go-to list of DoFollow URLs as well, and it took FOREVER to build. Sure, it's easy to find a ton of overly spammed posts. I can build a list of 100k of these pretty quickly.

      The hard part is building DoFollow lists. DoFollow + auto approve + not spammed-to-death is literally like finding a needle in a haystack. Moderated URLs a little bit easier but still require a lot of time and bandwidth.
  • Scrapebox with out a doubt is one of the best tools to build valuable links to any site. It is a great program and is worth every penny.

    Thanks for clearing up why you would want to use a VPS. As far as using up bandwidth goes, what's so bad about that? Would your ISP charge you extra? Couldn't you leave it to run at night while you aren't using the computer if it slows down browsing?

    I use a mac, so I can't use most SEO tools.

    Can I use ScrapeBox from a VPS? That would solve a lot of problems.

    • Yes you can use scrapebox on a VPS. I use them on a VPS for quite some time now. Alternatively, you can install a Windows Virtual Machine on your Mac, but i think it's more efficient to have it on a VPS.

      @OP : definitely worth every dime! only use them on tier 1 or tier 2 links, do not use SB directly to your money site. It helps "power up" and indexing your backlinks quickly.

  • Scrapebox is one of the most valuable SEO tools on the market today.

    However it is expensive to run.

    My set-up costs me close to $300 every month, granted I am a service provider. A decent set-up will still cost you at least $100/month.

    If you aren't willing to invest in the monthly set-up don't get it. Do it right or don't do it at all.

  • Scrap Box is really worth for that price.

    You will get lot of options and free tools in it.

    You can add on the extra options for free and you can utilize it.

    And all upgrades are free for you , if you purchase for one time. That is really a good deal.
  • ScrapeBox is definitely worth it. Through the years it is still my staple program. It's not just for blog commenting, it's so much more powerful than that.

    @GGpaul: Scrapebox is a one-off fee. However private proxies will cost you about $5/month each. If you're just starting out, 10 private proxies is generally enough. For scraping though, you should harvest some free public proxies so as to not get your private IPs banned/flagged by Google.

      I've been using them for a little over 6 months and they've been great. I believe the semi-dedicated proxies are shared between just two people & for different purposes. Fast and cheap. If you're a light user you can definitely get by with 5 proxies for posting.
  • I paid the one time fee and have been using it without the added cost associated with VPS or private proxies. My intent wasn't blasting so much as it was quality niche linking so going with public proxies (with some manual submissions) has worked for my needs.
  • How do you guys use Scrapebox? I've tested 10000 - 20000 blast services to no positive result.
  • Wow, I didn't know that your ISP would ban you if you are using too much bandwidth! So, I'm taking it that running it on a vps would us the VPS's bandwidth and not my own? Is there a way to configure SB to only use a limited amount of bandwidth?

    Also, what's the difference between free public proxies and paid private ones? I thought a proxy was a proxy, but that doesn't appear to be true.

  • No, scrapebox is crap, it will cause google to penalize your site. Also the author is a thief, I paid for the license a few months ago, then he deactivated it for no reason, I sent him multiple emails and he never replies.

      I've owned it for like 2 years and guess what? My license still works.. So no, they do NOT deactivate your license for no reason.

      PS: It isnt Scrapebox that is crap - the problem is that YOU have no idea what you're doing. Its only a tool. It can only do what YOU set it up to do.

    • I totally agree with this. I did buy scrapebox, and even later I did buy scrapejet. And found out that scrapejet create always the same links.
      I made a complain about it with them, and after I did NOT receive support, I did make a complain with PayPal, and they refunded my money for ScrapeJet. But to my surprise I found out that my account was blocked for use fr scrapebox. I also send several email to ask the person behind scrapebox to activate MY program. But he is NOT responding anymore, and scrapebox is NOT working anymore. Maybe they have something to hide? I do not know. My advice. Just make a good website. The traffic will come.
      Do NOT buy scrapebox or scrapejet .....

    Thanks a lot for answering my questions.

    I see what you mean now about how proxies differ between public and private proxies. However, I don't know what you mean about the proxies "wearing out" from a lot of use. I know that they don't really "wear out," but they start to get blocked or something.

    Who blocks them, though? Websites, search engines? If you are commenting on different blogs, than I don't understand how proxies would affect your posting success rate?

    • I apologize for the confusion. When I mean "wear out" I'm talking about getting blocked.

      If there are tons of people using the same proxy to say harvest from Google, eventually Google begins to block them (require captcha) and thus the proxy will "fail".

      The proxies could also be bad when posting for example if they are slow and time out (too many connections running through them) or they are blacklisted by things like Askimet etc.

  • Scrapebox is really really worth it if you know how to use it.

    I use it to manage my list of URLs.
    I use it to make money on the side by offering blasts.
    I use it to find specific sites (blogs, social bookmarking sites, forums, etc)

  • Scrapebox can be used to harvest a lot of things , however I disagree with SEOMasters that it is the #1 tool. Scrapebox is, however, a very nifty piece of software.

    Well, in SEO, manual work is preferred, you can take help of tools to scrape data but you should do manually for better result. MANUAL AND NATURAL

  • OK, so it sounds like blog posting is pretty much the least used feature of scrapebox. I mean, it seems like it's good for so many things. What's your favorite?
  • Scrapebox is definitely worth the price if you have Private Proxies with it + lots of time in your hand because learning Scrapebox and then using it definitely needs a lot of time. It'll also occasionally crash on you when handling huge lists or project but once you find out how much powerful that software is, you won't care about it's bugs (which regularly gets fixed by the team).

      One a serious note, I believe Scrapebox is one of the most powerful tools and it should be a part of every marketer's arsenal. It so much more than a blog spamming software, even the free addon's are worth their weight in gold. These nifty little addon's programs (which are free for Scrapebox owners) can save you a lot of time.

      Some of my favorite addon's are:

      1. Scrapebox Alive Check: This program checks whether a site is online or dead.

      2. Scrapebox Malware and Phishing Filter: As the name suggests it checks the site for viruses and malware.

      3. Google Cache Extractor: This addon shows when the site was last crawled by google.

      These addons are a great help in cleaning up any kind of list you Scrape.

      Like most programs, Scrapebox too has a learning curve, but if you spend a little time trying to master Scrapebox, you will save a lot of time in future. And time is money, so buying Scrapebox is a no-brainer for me.

    • SB needs to rotate through a LOT of proxies, especially when harvesting.

    • Out of curiosity, what are you using them for?

      I run 2 copies on a single VPS and I'm a fairly heavy SB user. (Not necessarily the fast poster though.)
