I joined warrior forum just to ask this question because WF is one of my favorites.

My question is about original content. Everywhere I keep hearing original content is king and websites with original content only manages to stay in Google Search Index.

If that is true, then how websites like "Science Daily", "Times of India", ""Tree Hugger" and other news websites manages to stay at front page of Google when they all scrap content form mainstream news websites.

e.g Science Daily and Tree Hugger mostly reprint article from various university papers, government websites and research organization papers.

News websites like "Times of India" scrap content from "Reuters" and other major News Agencies.

All these websites perform extremely well in Google Search and are high ranking websites.

My question is how can original content be king then and an important factor for SEO?

Original content is not king. Whoever told you that is flat out wrong.

People just misquote google, then make all kinds of assumptions
after that. Who or what you are listening to, needs to be replaced.

But then, this thread may be pure spamzola.

When we say content is king it really means that providing value to the users is now so important with social factors getting more and more attention from serp. Poor content still ranks and news is another story but at the end of the day the more value you provide the better (better bounce rate, time spent on site, likes, tweets, etc). News site are kind of different in my mind since news is by definition rehashed content so the real value in them except being the first to post it (needs huge budget) is to give users what they want, perhaps an agregator of niche news or easily findable/understanble university research. Anyway hope you get the idea, content IS king but there is still viable way to provide rehashed content.

So can I also republish content that is already been indexed by search engines without worrying about penalties from search engines?

original content's value = 0, google do not care if your content is duplicate of another site (though you might get DMCA notices and other legal problems), google just does not like if you have duplicate content on your own site. The site that have the most high quality backlink, wins.

Similar to what I was gonna say. When it comes to Googles search engine algorithm, backlinks are king and content is the kings idiot brother that rarely helps you but can definitely hurt you at times.

Actually keyword anchor-text links in general are King (internal/external links) as far as SEO goes, & how you structure content is Queen.

A well structured page has SEO advantages that a scraped page doesn't have.

But on Google's official blog, they say they remove websites from their search index those use duplicate content. Then how these websites manages to stay in search results when they are using more than 50% copied content?
