How many posts per page?

Hi everyone,

I have been using three posts (min 400 words each) for my sites per page.

Is there any value of having multiple post per page, as supposed to just one post per page, which would result in many more pages indexed?

I hope the question is clear. If it isn't let me know and I'll try to rephrase it.

Thanks

    Hi,

If I understand correctly, you have pages which you list 3 full posts on? In most cases, you will display multiple posts on a page only as snippets used to entice the visitor to click to the actual full post.

If you are using full posts on a page, plus the full post is able to be opened separately, then you have some duplicate content issues and are actually hurting yourself.

Stick to snippets, usually the first paragraph or so of each post.

Also, try to increase your content well above 400 words IF and only if you can keep it valuable.

This is the kind of info that i was looking for. Thanks.
Do you think it's going to hurt my current ranking, if i switch to snippets?

Did not get this thing properly. Are you using wordpress??
See the first thing is that is does not at all make any difference whether you have more number of pages indexed. That does not actually increase the content , just increases you page count in google's index. Whether you have three posts on same page or 3 posts on three different pages its all the same.

Although while using wordpress each post is automatically a different page , so i guess you are not using wordpress, right?

Yes, i am using wordpress, so i am wondering if mgreeners comment on duplicate content is valid.
That would be an issue, i need to address.

I do not believe there is a duplicate content issue. My sites actually rank better using full posts on the first page. I like to make it 5 posts per page just to keep the content on the main page of my blog longer. It really depends how much content you release and your strategy behind it.

The more the merrier man. Think of it as that many more keywords for Google to scrape up.
