drop down menus & seo friendliness

Hi all,
I am wondering 1) if drop down menus are tricky for search engines and 2) how to make them friendly?
From my search, I see there are plug-ins specifically for sites. I will be using Wordpress. Are the plug ins necessary?

Is there anything else I need to be thinking about?

    Yes you can maintain link juice within the site using dropdown menu and best thing is using drop down menu you can use many internal links as user friendly rather than adding to footer.

    Yes, you can use Wordpress to do that, use keywords should be good for you.

      To clarify, is Java Script what Wordpress defaults to??
      Yes, I plan to make the drop downs all with keywords. It just occurred to me that maybe the engines would have more difficulty crawling the site.
