Question about back links and searching for an ideal niche
- SEO |
Yesterday I posted a question to the forum asking if mass submission to article directories to solely get back links was a viable strategy anymore.
You can see the topic here: warriorforum. com/adsense-ppc-seo-discussion-forum/554130-whats-current-state-article-directories-backlinks-google-ranking.html
Alexa Smith came to my rescue and provided me with a large amount of information detailing how you won't increase your page rank by mass submitting to these article directories, and that 1 relevant backlink from a high PR site is worth around 100,000 article directory backlinks.
Luckily the sites I plan to start with involve solving a problem, so I should be able to write for syndication to rank my site for my keyword in order to start getting search traffic.
However I started thinking. If it is a case of quality over quantity with backlinks, then how do you find an ideal niche using something like Market Samurai? It's been my understanding that you use Market Samurai to search for a keyword that has a low amount of competition. But whether a keyword has low competition is determined by the number of backlinks to that site correct?
So how do you determine whether a keyword has low competition anymore?
Also I noticed people have been discussing do follow blogs etc. It all seems very sketchy in attempting to get higher page ranks, do they work?
Is there any current list of things that are working atm or does it change so often that you just have to keep on top of it all?
Thanks guys,
p.s - People like Pat Flynn are promoting the use of link wheels in videos such as this youtube. com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=iRnPDOsSdpw#t=35 7s
Is this now just false information?
