I mean a tool that will find all the keywords you're ranking for by just putting the URL in. Semrush hasn't been too hot lately so I've been looking for an alternative. Suggestions would be much appreciated.

I don't think it can do what SEMRush does (enter URL and you will find which keywords you are ranking for). Does it?

Which one? The Adwords keyword tool? It doesn't show what a domain is ranking for, does it? It just makes suggestions per domain?

SEMRush has better search volume and CPC data than Google Keyword tool, more realistic. GKT will show more of both and can trick you into bad niche unintentionally.

Really slow, can't process multiple keywords at once, unlike Long Tail Pro or SECockpit or SEMRush. Plus it had big problems with results recently as they got real slow and inaccurate..

You think? That should make things clear for OP.

Anyway, Semrush is great but I find keywords being off by few positions even if checked with IP's from the respective countries. But entering your domain to see for what and how many keywords you rank is awesome.

Does it work like SEMRush, i.e. you put a URL and it will show current rankings of that website?

  • Wow this thread is crazy! Try: Serpattacks Pro or free.

In the keword research component you can enter a url and it will scrape the page and tell you what keywords are on the page and the search volume.

Other then that, I can't find a better alt then semrush, although I'm actively looking also!

Wow, people recommending alternatives that don't even know what SEMRush is.

For those not in the know - SEMRush lets you put in a competitors URL and it returns what keywords that URL returns results for in the search results.

It is not a rank tracker.

It is very very handy for keyword research as you see unknown long tails for similar pages to your own.

Spyfu is the only alternative I know of but I don't think it has the same size database as SEMRush.

LOL @ those who are providing tips about RANK TRACKING TOOLS.... Please read the first post... The question is not about RANK TRACKING or SERP TRACKING tool... its about SEMRUSH (KEYWORD DIGGING TOOL).

I second Fraggler as SpyFu is the best alternative for SEMRUSH.

I have used SEMrush and it worked fine for me. Though lately I have been testing my luck with searchmetrics.com and adthena.com. Slightly pricy but they work on the domain intelligence model, you setup the system on a domain and it finds you everything from ads to keywords their CPC's etc on them.

All these tools have their own algorithm to calculate CPC's but these two are the one I have found to be most accurate.

Anyone else hard of them or am I the only one raving about it?

Market Samurai is good, but it uses information from Bing and not Google. Perhaps that is the reason why they have one time fee for using their tool. On the other hand you have to pay monthly for using SEMRush. SEMRush is also good.

You have to decide how much can you really pay and what are your needs. You can make an informed decision only when these 2 things are clear in your mind.

came here looking for semrush alternatives myself but the thread is more than thrilling, strange how people jump to help others without knowing what help is actually required. Recommendations about rank trackers as well as domain authority checker toosl look quite strange when the question is actually about a system to help you track what keywords a certain url is ranking for.

I know it's an old thread but since it was brought back to life a free way might be to just check your Awstats if your webhosting uses it, plug the keywords used to find your site into the rank checker Firefox addon (below). If the keyword is ranking and it's not showing up in Awstats and you're not getting any traffic for it who cares? Do this a week or more into the month so the stats have time to accumulate, or try statcounter.com. It's not better than Semrush, but it's free.

Wow... I am fairly infrequent in actually visiting this forum although I have been a member for quite a while. A search for answers brought me back here to this thread but this thread also reminds me of why I do not visit more often.

What a bunch of ignored and non informed members post here and give an opinion/recommendation that is not even close to what the OP was asking for.

I think they just read a few posts, that were the wrong information to start with, and jump in blindly with a recommendation that is so far of the mark that the OP left the thread a long time ago.

What surprises me most, although it should not, is that there are lots of longtime members with lots of posts that are posting the same shit...

Have you no pride... you are willing to create what could have been a informational tread about finding a "free tool that works by entering your, or your competitors URL you could see what keywords are being used and the traffic/ranking of them", into a total disaster.

Not that hard to understand in my opinion... but no... this turned into a cluster **** of bullshit about mainly keyword research...

Sad to see at this happening.

Ahwell... back to the real forums that have the proper information.

I really hate to bump an old thread but this is terrible. I too am doing a little digging for an alternative to what SEMRush can provide. And everyone is suggesting Market Samurai / the Google Keyword tool. Does anyone actually read the original posts anymore? Half the threads I come across these days are just people spouting off nonsense or pointless one-line replies.

Aherefs was the only alternative that did almost exactly the same thing (enter url check rankings).

Amazingly, Ahref updated more frequently their keyword ranking results.

Sadly, due to certain data sources that Ahrefs relied on to get their results, they no longer provide Keyword ranking data, only backlinks data.

Currently, as far as free tools are concerned, Ithink there is only Semrush, and Google Webmaster tools to give you some sort of direct ranking / tracking data regarding a particular url.

All other tools require entering keyword terms.

I was a huge fan of Ahrefs, which I believe had the edge on Semrush due to it's more frequent updates.
