Hi all,

I'm planning to make a case study and I wanted to know your opinion about the most effective and best link building methods in these days, which methods do you think are the best? Blog Networks, High PR Blog Commenting, Web 2.0 Pyramids/Linkwheels?

It would really help me if you would give me your opinion, hence it would be easier to plan everything for my case study of ranking pretty competitive keyword.

  • You have mentioned some of those. Though they are not new ones, the weight that they carry is still good specially if done properly. However, all methods you have mentioned need to be done cautiously.

In doing blog networks, you must not leave footprints of them or else Google will deindex you network. Anyway, there is one WF member here named Mike Anthony who's very good when it comes to blog networks, he will surely drop here to give you good advice about this thing.

High PR blog commenting needs a lot of work and money. You will surely have a tough time in finding a free high PR blog to drop some comments with links. You would probably spending money for it. But it's worth your money (just stay away from scammers).

Linkwheels and blog networks are quite the same IMO (correct me if I'm wrong). So must also be done with cautions.

All are good. And will surely give you a good ranking if done properly.

    • Personally i believe the top methods are link wheels, article submission and blog commenting. I have never heard about link pyramid. Can you explain a bit about it ?

  • The best link building is LINK DIVERSITY : contextual backlink, forum profile, directory submission, articles submission etc.

    • Directory submission is waste of time, no BL and if get also form the deep pages and no link value. Form signature work well, article is also good but link exchange is not passing link value
  • I would like blog network, and also blog commenting.
  • I am following Web 2.0, Article submission and social bookmarking. Just ignore interconnecting the properties.
  • What about .edu and wiki links? Are they as effective as they used to be in past?
  • you want a large number of diverse links. Get links from many different site types like social network sites, blogs as links from articles, links from wiki postings, links from article directories, links from news sites, more social networking links, links from video sites... and vary your anchor texts! if you are doing this linkbuilding yourself...

    • To be honest with you, now I'm in the stage where I own a few dozen websites and I'm ready to test some linking strategies and yes I'll try to diverse links as much as possible, since this is really becoming one of the key factors in a successful link building campaign.

Shall I start building links in this order?
Manual PR links ---> Social bookmarks ---> Blog network links ---> Blogrolls ---> Article directory links (of course, with a well spinned articles, like Ultra Spinnable Ones) ---> Forum links ---> Web 2.0s and High PR profiles links?

This could all be done in a month, I would be drip-feeding those links
  • By all means test out strategies and strategy combinations on various sites. You will find what seems to work best for you. The internet is a big place to plan to take off your shoes, get comfortable and stay awhile. You can build in any order, but try to focus on building PR. For example, if you have a squidoo page, try to build it's PR by linking to it and ranking that page. Now if you have a couple of these high ranking pages link to you, that's alot more powerful than just N/A links pointing to your site.

      just do all of them.

  • A great way to build one way links to your sites is by leaving comments on blogs relevant to your sites niche.
  • There is no big change or a magic TRICK that can send thousand of people to a website. But one needs to be choosy for linkbuilding.
  • For me I would suggest high quality article marketing, it is one of the most effective link building strategies because Google prefers content that is fresh, unique and relevant.
  • Link Wheel And .edu Backlinks ! Are Really Helpful!
  • I'm having great success since ditching low quality link building (like blog comments, forum posts, article directories, web2.0 and social bookmarking) and focusing on HIGH PR backlinks. For example, one PR7 is worth more than 78,000 low quality backlinks and it looks more natural to google.

I'm not saying the lower quality backlinks are bad, they serve their purpose, but they take way too much time and effort with very little value in return. for me, high PR is the only way to go since Panda.
  • what's everyone's opinion on using yahoo answers for link building? I've tried it some and it seems to help me get direct traffic.

I'm wondering how good of a use of time it is versus other strategies? Also how valuable the links are?

    • Good replies. Can anyone elaborate on pinging? I've heard the term, but not sure how to do it.

      Thanks
  • All of the mentioned tactics could work with the proper combination of automation and manual human interaction within each site. I would add document sharing sites to the list. For example, places like docstoc and scribd have been producing great results.
  • Article and Forum marketing are great.. I also recommend commenting on niche-related blogs .. with no more than 200 comments (if you can find any good!)
  • So, what has exactly happened to blog networks after the new Panda update came out, have blog networks lost their SEO value?
